Didn’t you want severe storms?  They cause destruction, like flash flooding.

It’s complicated, and I think I’ve discussed my position on this before. When I say I like severe, I don’t mean I want an EF-5 tornado to rip through downtown Pgh. I like a nice thunderstorm with wind every now and again. Not the kind of wind that snaps large trees in half, but I don’t mind seeing tree branches and limbs laying around after a good storm. Would love to see a tornado in the flesh just once before I die, but not in a populated area and certainly not in my backyard. There are severe weather fans all over these forums and most of them are probably not sociopaths.

What form of weather that I don’t like causes more deaths than any other? I don’t agree with people who like it, but I don’t fault them either. I know no one is rooting for death. Everyone has their preferences.

Yeah, and 90 is unlikely to kill many people.  I'd like to see 100 at some point too, but I'm not actively rooting for that.  Equating a 90 degree day to a 100 degree day is not an accurate comparison, but if we're going to compare them one to one, then we'd have to equate any severe weather as equals.  You know what I mean.  We don't want death, of course, that would be insane, but seeing an extreme is not that out of the box.

We all have preferences, so let's not put others down or make fun of them if someone is disappointed that they didn't get weather they like.

Winter is just inherently better, when everyone is on the same team. Apologies if I ever made fun of you for wanting heat.

No biggie.  We can poke fun, but just have to do it across the board.  And anyway we're approaching September where I do not want to see any 90s, 60s for the whole month.

Thursday was a nasty one for us.  We basically had a three-hour thunderstorm that had varying intensities of precipitation.  A lot of close lightning strikes.  Makes me wish I had a camera setup on a tripod to record the whole thing.  Fortunately we got a break last night, as the worst of the storms skipped us over (perhaps because we used up all the energy the night before).

We've more than made up for the dull spring.  Now I'm kind of looking forward to cool fall weather, if such a thing will happen this year.

I can’t tell you how insane it is that we have a tropical system being funneled up over us this week and the discussion from KPIT doesn’t even mention it.

They finally put it in their discussion today, along with possible flooding concerns.

Interesting watching the radar this morning. Not often you can see a clearly defined center of circulation from a tropical storm / remnants moving right towards us.

Fred's starting to pivot too now. Hopefully we get this guy out earlier than forecasted.

One other thing I saw is there is another hurricane, Henri who looks like it may make a run at the New England.
