Haven't had to wear a mask pretty much throughout the whole pandemic.  Only when it was required inside buildings (doctors visits) or when going to some clients projects would I ever have to wear one.  I jumped on getting vaccine due to my chronic leukemia and also knowing that it was the fastest/safest path back to normalcy for the Country.

Same. All the outrage and posts harping on COVID are coming from the folks telling us it’s no big deal. If it’s no big deal, stop posting about it 24/7. What am I missing?

so according to you people shouldn't talk about it unless they are in fear for their lives

I think many spend far too much time on social media platforms or watching news.  I catch a little in the AM to get caught up on the local stuff but that's mostly it.

I love seeing that the vaccine I received is still going strong at 6mo knowing that if I do come in contact with someone infected, I likely won't have any noticeable symptoms.  The onus is on those that are not vaccinated to do what they feel is necessary and deal with the risks.  I would still highly recommend them to get vaccinated as the data is clearly showing they work in preventing deaths and severe cases requiring hospitalizations.  The break-through cases are more risky to those that are unvaccinated than to those that are.

Bangor Fair will have a Covid vaccine booth at the entrance for anyone who wants it. You know, those that still aren't sure or don't want it and figured they'd try to get away from life and covid for an an enjoyable day at the fair with the kids, but then be greeted by more vax pushing. wtf is wrong with this world.

Do you get a free hot dog?

Man sounds like a great guy.  Why would living off the grid effect your mental health? Are you sure living off the grid is a bad thing? Do you have an issue with rural people?

The linked article also mentioned the "North Pond Hermit" but that fellow, Chris Knight, was a totally different critter.  Dave Lidstone apparently likes to meet/greet people, even taking them to his cabin.  By his own account, Knight met exactly one person in his 27-year stay in the woods, a casual wave-and-pass on a nearby hiking trail.  He would stock up his sanctuary in the fall, mainly lootong camps after the summer folk had left (though he also raided Pine Tree Camp, where the profoundly disabled can enjoy a camp experience.), and stayed right at home all winter so there would be no footprints in the snow.  Lidstone seems quirky but normal; Knight was weird.  In the book about him, "Stranger in the Woods", the author gained his confidence over many hours of interviews and Knight never expressed exactly why he chose to disappear into the forest shortly after graduating HS.
And as Phin noted, he's anything but off grid.  His large NH place has a great view to the south so would be quite visible to people looking north, and it's not far off the main highway thru that part of the state.  (In addition to his business work in MD/DE.)

The whole vaccine situation in this country reflects quite poorly on all of us as Americans.

Every man, woman, and young adult has had exclusive access to the two best vaccines in the world for at least several months, some close to 8-9 months at this point. It’s free, and you can literally get it probably a mile from your house at a drug store.

There are countries and areas of the world that won’t see this vaccine for years if at all, and we have exclusive access to it and more than likely any booster needed. And we can’t get enough uptake to tamp this thing down?

Bad look for us.

The vaccinated are being asked to mask up because they can spread the virus. Are you really arguing that there are large swaths of unvaccinated in NYC and San Fran causing the vaccinated to have to mask up?

People need to wake up to what is really causing these restrictions.

The majority of spread is still coming from unvaccinated individuals. If more people were vaccinated, the transmission from a mostly vaccinated population would probably be a moot point.

The CDC believes that vaccinated people can spread the virus, which is why vaccinated people are being asked to mask up. They are not being asked to mask up because unvaccinated people could die. Unvaccinated people could die back in May too and no one really cared.

The data from the UK says that the death rate for Delta under age 50 is 0.02%. Less deadly than Alpha.

The unvaccinated are not making you have to mask up.

Just use your brain for 2 seconds, dude. LOL

The CDC mysteriously decided to stop tracking mild and moderate breakthrough cases back in May, so we have zero idea how much spread is coming from the vaccinated. Data from Israel and the UK says it is much higher than we seem to think in this country.

The NH guy's cabin was burned down. Coincidence? Too bad
