I read an article that talked about how they tried this in some places in Hawaii, and it ended up being a complete and utter disaster. The restaurants had so many problems that they're no longer enforcing the vaccine requirement.

Bill de Blasio is like a Communist Tyrant. To force people to get a vaccine, for a virus that now has a 99.8% survival rate (which the latest data from the UK shows) to participate in society is horrible. A vaccine that has caused some short term serious events like heart inflammation and blood clots, and we don't know about potential long term risks because the proper long term studies (which are supposed to be many years for vaccines) were skipped due to the emergency.

The most disturbing thing is de Blasio completely denies natural immunity. Despite the fact that many studies have shown that natural immmunity is as good or even better than vaccine immunity. So he wants to force some people to take the risks of a vaccine when they have absolutely no need for it due to natural immunity. Here is an article that shows statistics from Israel that show that natural immunity has outperformed vaccine immunity in that country...

Covid causes a bunch of short term and long term issues too, I continually don’t understand why people are hung up on vaccine side effects when the effects of covid are virtually slapping everyone in the face.

I get the young and healthy are low risk, but like the vaccine, we have no idea the long term Covid affects

Buys only the cheapest ingredients from Sisco and supplements them with local supermarket brand when it’s on sale.

That was the local Italian place I dishwashed for when I was 15 and 16.  Nothing but the cheapest ingredients but people ate there like it was flown in from Italy.

There are exceptions.  When in UMaine forestry school 1973-75 I worked at a hole0in-the-wall pizza shop in BGR.  Owner was Steve Seguino, a 2nd-generation Neapolitan-American from the Italian part of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.  (Ironically, he grew up 5 blocks from my fil and the Norwegian section bordered the Italian.)  Napoli Pizza made top flight NY-style pizza - when the manager of Pizza Hut wanted good stuff he came to Napoli's.  :D
I mostly made Italian sandwiches and ran the register - best Italian rolls I've seen, baked at Ruby Cohen's bakery - he was Sen. Bill Cohen's dad.  I think the mushrooms best illustrated Steve's ethos - each week I'd go out to BGR International and pick up 8-9 boxes of fresh PHL-area shrooms delivered thru Delta Air Freight.  When Steve sold the place to fulfill his goal of a sit-down Italian restaurant, the new owner would get his mushrooms from the outdated stock at local supermarkets.

My company uses contract companies for security, Cafe operations, loading dock, and janitorial.

They started requiring the contract people in the building to wear masks yesterday.

Regular employees aren't under the requirement. I'm guessing they cant make the weekly covid test for unvaxed contractors mandatory like they can for us, so they made a mask requirement across the board for them.

VT crushes the rest of the country in maple production.

Quebec produces about 80% of the world's maple syrup, most under the aegis of the provincial "cartel".  Oddly, the most productive US county is Maine's Somerset, likely because its area is about 40% of Vermont's, and the vast majority is tapped within 30 miles of the PQ border and probably sold thru the cartel.

Our own CDC does not want to talk about it. Only vaccine immunity.

I certainly am not against the current covid vaccines. They have been a life saver for many. I really think it's all about individual risk level. For people that are at high severe Covid risk, it absolutely makes sense to take the vaccine. We know the people that are at higher risk. Obesity, low physical fitness level, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, etc. The benefits greatly outweigh the risks of the vaccine for these people. But a 25 year old athlete? Someone like that is at such incredibly low risk of seeing severe Covid complications that it might make sense to not want to take any risk at all from the vaccine. That's my opinion.

There have also been lots of studies that have shown that healthy diet and exercise greatly reduce the risk of severe Covid. There was a large new study that came out a few weeks ago that showed that a Mediterranean style diet reduced the risk of severe Covid by 40%. And numerous studies have shown that exercise greatly reduces the risk of severe covid. Sports medicine specialist Dr. Robert Sallis did a major study in California that looked at over 48,000 people that got Covid, and compared people that were sedentary to people that got the recommended 150 minutes of exercise per week. People that did not exercise were twice as likely to be hospitalized and 2 and half times more likely to die than people that exercised regularly. The study results were incredibly dramatic and showed that physical activity level was the biggest modifiable risk factor for severe Covid, even more than obesity.

So I am a big believer in the natural protection of being in great shape. I know it's not 100% protection, and there certainly are cases of people that are in great shape getting severe Covid. But it does lower the risk to such a low level, that it's a level that I can live with without being too worried. I will post a link to an interview that Dr. Sallis did about his exercise/covid study. It's a long read, but a lot of great information...

And I'm not against getting vaccinated for myself. I'm just waiting for a vaccine that I'm more comfortable with. Novavax has a Covid vaccine that should be coming out this fall. It's an old fashioned protein subunit vaccine, the type of technology that has been used for many childhood vaccines. So we have long term safety data on that type of vaccine, and the other plus is that the side effects in the couple days after the vaccine aren't as severe as well. So I will likely get that when it comes out.

The media and our own agencies are well aware of the benefits of exercise but purposely withhold any dissemination of this information. It's boderline criminal, but apparently goes unchallenged in our society. A recent 540,000 covid patient retrospective analysis indicated obesity was the top contributing factor in severe cases.  This has been well known since the beginning, but let's force people of all ages and health to get jabbed.

Dr. Sallis has been very frustrated by this. He believes that many lives would have been saved throughout the pandemic, had health authorities gotten the message out that something as simple as exercising greatly reduces the risk of getting severely ill from Covid.

Welp, looks like we need to start vaxxing the deer.

Next we will get a report it has spread to cattle and the beef supply will be wiped out.

On a similar note, I've been monitoring this for a while given my neuro focus. Prion disease (e.g., CJD, "Mad Cow") clusters popping up in Canadian maritime towns for the past year. Could be due to eating shellfish, deer, or something else. Always fatal and a horrific way to go.

De Blasio to announce city vaccine mandate for indoor dining, gyms, drinking.

Alot of business will be lost.  Many people still don't want to get vaccinated.

Good luck to him . I could almost see a splinter of what the perception is of the Democratic support. Bluntly , polling shows many African Americans are not too cool with being forced to vaccinate and to be honest , I don’t blame anyone against forced mandates to eat in or gym . This seems like it has some potential for resistance to me , good luck .

Calling people fat is mean nowadays. Dont fit the narrative you can be overweight but healthy.

Whoa, I would like to hear more about the Canadian Prion clusters.  That shit is nasty.
I did not know you could get it from shellfish.

Fake vaxx card/fake IDs....lol

Yeah fakes are probably already circulating.  Plus I don’t know anyone who actually carries their card.
Also, what if you lost your card? If you got vaccinated at one of the many pop-up clinics, there’s probably some work involved in getting another card.

I don’t know how accurate the recordkeeping has been and I don’t know how good of a national database there is. My wife’s doctor had no idea she had been vaccinated so clearly no info was sent to our PCP.

They gonna need a system to track that and re-issue lost cards.

Almost like the DMV. What a shite show that would be.

The cervid (deer, elk, moose, caribou) version of the prion-caused horror is called Chronic Wasting Disease.  It was fist identified in commercial deer farms in the West, IIRC Colorado, but it's spread to wild populations there and has been found as far east as NY, I think.  Nasty thing about prions is their hardiness; carcasses/bones of infected deer can transmit prions years after the critter's death.  Years ago I saw a pic of a giant pressure-cooker where Wisconsin biologists would cook infected carcasses at high heat.  The thing was 5-6 feet across and the locking lugs looked almost 2" thick.
So far, I don't think that there's been transmission from cervids to humans.  The human equivalent in Jacob-Creuzfeldt (sp?) disease, that destroys the brain from the inside out and is incurable.

Yet another reason to continue my strict policy of never, ever stopping in NY/NJ when driving to NH. I would have to be in serious trouble to want to stop there.

Grandkids are in SNJ.  Have not been there since before the pandemic but hope to do so this fall.  Usually involves a stop in NNJ before the final 150 to their home.  Oh well.

They just re-instated a mask mandate at work :( UGH

sorry man. What new metric will need to be met to get back to no masks again? looks like the bar will be made higher and higher towards a zero covid policy. I'm not sure what's going to happen (maybe nothing), but I think we're headed towards some serious resistance/violence soon.

CDC says if your in an area of 50 cases per 100,000, wear a mask. Most of Mass is around 55-60/100K. Hospitalizations are around 200 in the whole state, and there's been <1 death per day on average. Yet here I am in a mask based on an arbitrary case number that means shit.

Stupid. Your going to walk in with a mask then sit down and take it off? And full capacity

If everything wasn't ridiculous before, it is now.

I was wondering about this too, since some people were saying there would not be capacity restrictions again. How's that going to work for restaurants as you say. If they are mandated for restaurants again, then it seems you'd have to reduce capacity, otherwise what 's the point. More stupidity and 'follow the science" bs.

Reputation and character perception mean something in politics, though. The idea of Gov Baker falling behind Cuomo's mandate mmm that assumption may have just taken a big hit, based upon the day's revelations.

Apparently, the D.A. finds enough credible evidence that he's probably losing his nuts-in-public-opinion and being neutered of power here shortly..  He'll get his day in court but ... things aren't looking good for that dude.

Not sure Baker will wantonly align behind mandates that were instrumentalized by a narcissist/sociopath fondler - even if exonerated, it's too late.  Politics is perception - almost entirely...  Our society doesn't provide pathways to redemption.  And Baker and gang's political weight won't willingly be lightened by the erosive power of agreeing with the likes of an asshole

^ an interesting unreported aspect about the July 4th Ptown cluster is that 85% of cases are men. Yet even during its gayest week, Ptown is not 85% male tourists. IE, kissing (& sex) may have been a factor driving the outbreak.

TL;DR vaxxed people are less infectious than unvaxxed.
