Stebo
The whole drive back from Missouri the temp never got above 51. Yesterday was probably top 10 miserable days for this time of year for the entire region. I retweeted several shots of accumulating snow north of Toronto as well.

Brian D
More record lows this morning with temps being very similar to yesterday morning. Impressive 2 day run on cold mornings. These last 3 days have been running -10 to -20 below normal putting the smackdown on the monthly avg. Should end up around 1.0 - 1.5 tho after being in the 3 range. Mogget
36 degrees this AM, below the forecasted low. No frost advisory, either, but I see frost on cars and on the ground. I hope I didn’t just lose my tomatoes and watermelons...

I had thought about frost potential but when going to be we were 8 degrees warmer than the same time last night so I thought we’d be ok
Mogget
Tomatoes seem to be okay but some of the watermelon seedlings show significant leaf damage. Bummer. On the other hand, it’s early enough that I’ll just stick a few more seeds in some of the hills.

Sometimes it’s hard to get them growing even without frost if it’s relatively cool.
Hoosier
After being in positive territory, the last few days pushed the month into negative territory at ORD. It looks like the month will finish fractions of a degree cooler than average.

One of only 8 years that recorded 22 inches or less of precipiation and yet only reached 90 degrees or higher 4 times the entire summer. This year has actually been pretty similar to 1962 so far, so its an interesting analog to follow as the summer goes along here.

I just used years that had less than 10" of precip through May (avg through May is a bit over 13") because setting the threshold less than that would've really cut into the sample size. The results surprised me... there were some notoriously hot summers in there, but many others were near average or cooler than average.

michsnowfreak
May was a see saw of a chilly and often frosty first half, followed by a mid summer hot stretch for a week, then ending with a brief visit to November. In the end it will just blend in the records as a non extreme May lol. Finished -1.3° at DTW with a mean temp of 59.0°. Monthly max/min 88/32.
