Torchageddon
There was a conveyor belt of pure rain just miles to the north for half the day with a nice gradient by evening. While I had peaks of sunshine it was steady rain 30 minutes north. My temp really shot up mid-morning from 52F to 68F in just a few hours. The evening was good but increasing clouds then some lightning streaks and rain a hour ago. I'm just happy I wasn't in the belt's path.
hawkeye_wx
87/85 here the last two days... frankly, a bit warm. I'd prefer about 10º less than that this time of year.

hawkeye_wx
The thinnest part of the rain area moved through Cedar Rapids, but a decent rate was able to produce 0.25". I'll take it.
madwx
got 1.62" here today. Really helping stave off the drought.

Time to root for the May 2003 analog! May 2003 had a record 21 days with measurable rainfall the entire month.
CheeselandSkies
If it were a May 2003 analog you'd think there would be at least a whiff of a sustained SW flow pattern and outbreak sequence potential on the models.

cyclone77
Looks like some frost and maybe freeze potential in the near future. Right now Saturday morning and Monday morning look the coldest for this particular area. I know a lot of peeps in this area have already planted some things, so good chance they'll be covering them up those nights.

cyclone77
Running a bit late but baby leaves on the new white oak have finally opened. This innocent looking little 5ft tree could still be standing and thriving 300-400 years from now if all goes well, it's a very long-living tree if allowed to thrive. 6

thomp2mp
Many brrs in Northern/Central Lower MI tonight and tomorrow night And not just there. Forecast low of 34° here in White Lake, and more of the same into the weekend. Early May has been cold in recent years
Hoosier
I think LOT needs to seriously consider a freeze warning around here tonight. Had a low of 34 this morning and the airmass tonight is colder aloft and with good radiational cooling again.

I think there's a good chance we see that and more than just hyper localized, but we'll see.

Brian D
I downloaded and used anomalies for the charts. Cleaner bar chart, and can clearly see the trends as before. https://psl.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/data/testdap/timeseries.pl
