Hoosier
Is it colder or warmer than average? Do we stop the expanding drought in its tracks?
NTXYankee
Colder and coats on Memorial Day, why stray far from what appears to be the norm this year.

Hoosier
Have a shot to achieve the unusual low in the 30s to high of 80 today, but it will take a lot of warming the rest of the day to pull it off. High temp looks to occur later than usual in the afternoon and could have about 5 more hours of warming.
madwx
like @cyclone77 lots of dust devils in open fields today. the dry air is allowing for some impressive mixing
hawkeye_wx
The temp has soared today, now up to 87 here and low 90s across northern Iowa. The wind is ridiculous, gusting to 50 mph.
cyclone77
Yeah impressive temps up in northern IA. Mason City and Clarion both at 93 with time to go even higher. Up to 84 here, and 86 at DVN. DVN may make a run at 90 as well.
hlcater
If RHs in the teens across much of northern Iowa isn’t a harbinger of drought, I don’t know what is.... Soil moisture must be totally abysmal with the lack of any appreciable precip recently. Things may be looking up with upcoming pattern change, or at least I hope so, because we’re gonna have some real problems if not.
Chicago Storm
Impressive mixing occurring across portions of MN/IA/WI/IL, even more-so than modeled.90’s have even made it into SW WI..
hawkeye_wx
Spencer, IA (nw) is currently 96º. Waterloo is 92º. I just turned the AC on for the first time this year. 1

janetjanet998
I recall posting something last year about how the new “normal” May rainfall for ORD went way up because of the last few years insanity Because we are using 1990’s 2000’s and 2010’s data now 3.68 to 4.45 according to this https://www.facebook.com/87625716759/photos/a.10150114911481760/10158220204461760/?type=

Geoboy645
Yeah today way overperformed. Our forecast high was 78 and its now 84 here. Whats crazy is that it was 60 at about 12 noon. So we went up by 24 degrees in about 5 hours, which is pretty crazy.

Brian D
Made it into the low 80's today. An awesome summer day on the 1st of May. Top 5 heat with some records broke. But tomorrow, reality sets in with more normal early May weather on tap. Chilly Lake winds and some rain possible (mainly south of me).

mississaugasnow
looks like by mid week the western part of the sub gets to enjoy what the far eastern side has been seeing for days now. 50s and 60s with lows in the 30s and 40s. The warmth never really got past Detroit. Its currently 82F and sunny in Detroit but 58F and off and on rain in Toronto
