Snowfall stats for Fort Wayne:

4/20 daily record:  0.2" in 1953

Calendar day snows of 1"+ on/after 4/20.  Twice, in back to back years nearly a century ago.

5/9/1923:  1.1"

4/21/1924:  4.7"

I don’t see any way they break the 4.7” record since the snow should span over midnight, but I also don’t see any way they miss out on a calendar day snow of 1”+, and it seems very possible both today and tomorrow get added to that list.

My thoughts concerning the impending snow event and daily records for select locations:

Buffalo: 3”-6”; April 20: 5.5”, 1901; April 21: 1.3”, 1934

Detroit: 2”-4”; April 20: 1.2”, 1947; April 21: 0.3”, 1978

Indianapolis: 1”-2”; April 20: None; April 21: 0.7”, 1901

Toledo: 3”-6”; April 20: 0.3”, 2013; April 21: 2.0”, 1922

Windsor: 2”-4” (5-10 cm); April 20: 0.9” (2.3 cm), 1947; April 21: 0.8” (2.0 cm), 1986

Shades of 2016 here folks. I believe that was the 9th-10th because the Masters was on, but nearly a foot fell in some locations across the Toledo area. April 20th getting this much snow is cool, but not completely unheard of.

The difference between accumulating snow on April 10th vs. April 20th is, without exaggeration, massive. I believe @Hoosier said 1” or more on or after 4/20 has only happened 3 times in Toledo’s history.

That is correct. Below is a list of Toledo's 1" or greater snowfalls on or after April 20:

April 21, 1922: 2.0”
May 8-9, 1923: 4.0”
May 6-7, 1989: 1.3”
April 23-24, 2005: 4.0”

It is indeed a massive difference. Even Apr 15 to Apr 20 is a huge difference.

In 130 years of record (since 1891) Toledo has seen a 1"+ snowfall only 4 times on or after April 20.

4.0" Apr 23-24, 2005

4.0" May 9, 1923

2.0" Apr 21, 1922

1.3" May 6-7, 1989

In 140 years of record (since 1881) Detroit has seen a 1"+ snowfall only 8 times on or after April 20.

6.0" May 9, 1923

5.0" May 21-22, 1883

4.3" Apr 23-24, 2005

3.0" Apr 29, 1909

1.7" Apr 23-24, 1967

1.5" May 13, 1912

1.2" Apr 20, 1947

1.0" Apr 22, 1911

*Note. per newspaper reports Toledo saw 3" during the unprecedented May 21/22 1883 storm, but records did not yet exist.

Early storm reports coming in from Missouri show amounts of 2"-4" just north of Kansas City, including a high figure of 4.5". Late-season storms can sometimes overperform where the heavy banding takes place.
