Down to 33 yesterday and 32 this morning in Burke. Chilly, but I'm fine with it as long as the comes out and it's relatively short-lived. And there's little wind.

I only learned this week that the "oak moss" (my name!) are called "catkins" -- and I forgot about the gutter messes they cause. We got those gutter screens years ago, which have helped immensely. And I feel your pain -- the back patios look even worse, as there are congealed catkin/spinner tumbleweeds and clumps everywhere. Only another week or two until all this crap comes down and I can pull out the power washer...oh, JOY.  :D

We've affectionately referred to them as "pollen bombs."  We used to have laurel oak catkins everywhere when we lived in Fairlington, but now we're subjected to the circular beech pollen bombs from the multiple 80+' tress in our neighbors' yards. They're beautiful trees, but they shed catkins in the spring; then the squirrels start eating the nuts and dropping the (pointy) casings in the summer; in the autumn, the remaining nuts fall; finally, in winter and early-spring winds bring down the remaining casings.

I've always wondered what that is!  It's literally tumbleweeds everywhere and they keep getting stuck to our Scottish Terrier's underside/fur since she's the traditional Scottie look.  So I'm constantly picking them up off the floor inside when they fall off her.

Looks like rain tomorrow evening will hold off until after my dinner reservation!

I'm glad for you and your bride's reservation....and since I wasn't able to get to all of the mowing today and it will be pushed to tomorrow, I'm (selfishly!) also glad the rain is supposed to hold off until tomorrow evening!

0z euro juiced up for tonight. I’ll take all the rain I can before heading into summer.

I’m hoping for about .75” to help keep the grass actively growing into May. All my seed from the fall and some sod in early spring has filled in and is looking great. I just need to keep it watered into June to survive the heat of summer.

Same here, I have a 10x25 patch I planted a couple weeks ago that is coming along, each drop counts at this stage.

This morning was beautiful. Now it’s turned pretty overcast and breezy making it feel a little cool out here, at least at the park where I am anyway. Hopefully we get some good sun tomorrow after the rain tonight

Spot-on obs. Partly sunny just before noon, turning into increasingly cloud-filtered sun as the afternoon went on. Our temps seemed to go just slightly higher than forecasted here...hit 69 just after lunchtime...and have been hovering in the mid 60s most of the rest of the afternoon under building overcast. Rain moving in from SW, appears to be between Stafford and Dale City right now. Bring it on....I got ALL of the mowing done within the past hour.  :D
