Looks like heavy squalls are rolling through the western Whites right now based on the Lost River and Echo Lake road cams. For those unfamiliar, this is a pretty cool site:

https://vortex.plymouth.edu/webcam/rwis/

Partly sunny and 26F right now on the east side, but I'm thinking we could have some snow and/or graupel showers when we maximize our instability around midday. Doubtful we see much accumulation due to the high sun angle, but there could be some pretty heavy bursts. Spring on hold for now.

Forecast for Pittston Farm, where our crew is going for a men's retreat, this afternoon thru Saturday noon.  Could be worse - Fort Kent, 100 mils farther northeast, is expecting 2-4 today and 1-3 tonight, atop whatever fell last night.  Nice late April wx.

Today:  Snow showers. High near 33. West wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Tonight:  A 30 percent chance of snow showers before 4am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 25. West wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Friday:  Mostly sunny, with a high near 51. West wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Friday night:  Mostly clear, with a low around 33. West wind 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday:  Sunny, with a high near 58. West wind 5 to 10 mph.

Yeah, hard to say for sure. My other cam that has a nice view of a deck railing that always gives me a good idea of depth must be totally encased in wet snow because I can't see anything out of it.

Have you measured the height of the edge of that circular bed so that you know if the edging is covered it is X inches deep?

Good burst of heavy snow this morning.  Now we wait for this afternoon/evening's round.

I guess this system could be broken up into three parts if there ends up being an upslope portion on the backside as well.

BTV looks to be doing the best this round so far.

It snowed last night but only an extra half inch or less.  Still sitting around 4" of snow on the ground.  Light flurries falling.

There seemed to be a bit of a lull in the snowfall this morning because we even had a few peeks of blue sky at our site, but perhaps there will be a fourth round today as the ULL comes through.  Some models certainly show a resurgence in the snowfall this afternoon:

NEAR TERM /THROUGH FRIDAY/...

As of 740 AM EDT Thursday...Snow showers will continue through much of the day today as upper level low pushes across the region. Will also have strong gusty northwesterly winds due to increased pressure gradient as low which brought rain and snow to the region yesterday continues to make its way northeastward from Northern Maine into the Canadian Maritimes.

There’s certainly still moisture pushing in on the radar with that classic NW look:

Yeah starting to snow better at the mountain.

Right on time as the core of the 700mb cold and upper level through should be swinging through over the next 4-6 hours.

Yeah, I just checked our webcam and I see that snowfall has been picking up at our site as well.

We should get more snow squally though than a stable upslope band. Can see some heavier cores starting to enter the US from southern Canada.  I have to imagine this anomalous cold pool overhead this time of year should fire off some decent popcorn style squalls.
