CoastalWx
This is thing slower to leave than 12z. Less progressive and destroys the Cape as a 964 low. It's sw of 12z by hr 84.
weathafella
Through 90 hours, looks like 0.75 qpf BOS S and E. 0.5 to 495, 0.25 to ORH.
weatherwiz
A little description of QPF that someone posted to me on facebook: west of 495 it doesnt look great at all .01 in western and central CT .1 for Eastern CT and up to Natick ma area and then in BOS .25 and .75 for Falmouth, Mass on the cape thru hour 84 on the euro

Baroclinic Zone
it's like Jekyll and Hyde between the 2 threads. They make it sound as if the Euro sucks. I'll take the Euro solution and be a happy man.

weathafella
last thing, then i'm off to bed....is the QPF field similar? probably higher for cape with slow exit? qpf distribution and fields look very similar to 12Z. I can't tell the difference if there is one.
weatherwiz
Well personally I would have liked to see the Euro come in line with what the 0z GFS was, or at least be in a position to throw more QPF back this way. As I began suspecting earlier today this continues to look like this is going to be an eastern MA/Cape Cod special (Kevin will hate to see this) and it's probably just a question of whether or not we can see some light snow back this way. dendrite
How does NNE do? It scoots more east than 12z in the later period. Similar QPF for SNE, but scale it all eastward for NNE. 0.50" cuts just west of Eastport. 0.25" from about SFM to HUL.
Baroclinic Zone
Euro is actually slower, not bad. You caught my attention when you wrote that. Could wrap in more Atl. moisture and tug it closer to the coast.

40/70 Benchmark
This run gives me a little less qpf than 12z and less than half the GFS.....like .35". Verbatim, it blows.

In the old days we'd make the excuse that Euro is a medium range model and shouldn't be used. But now we know better. Given GEFS and the Euro, this may well be very close to the solution we see.
