I headed out after it after seeing that radar signature, unfortunately that's in a really bad terrain area. I intercepted it near Dodgeville, saw an ominous shelf cloud as it was starting to gust/bow out at that time but still had a pronounced couplet buried in the rain. I got into some blinding rain and got smacked by a few hailstones heading back east on 151, pulled off at Barneveld (of 1984 F5 infamy) and waited for things to pass before heading home as things had completely lined out by then.

MCV rolling ENE from Central Iowa late this morning.   Should be an interesting afternoon again in Southern Wisconsin

Meanwhile, it's toward the end of its run but 3KM NAM paints a rather volatile environment over eastern Iowa/SW WI again Tuesday evening. Another Grant County (terrible terrain) special? Stay tooned!

I WISH it was Day 5...Friday's threat looks like it might be just a tad too far west for an after-work chase for me.

Edit: Yep, 12Z NAM has some juicy soundings at 00Z Saturday in southeastern SD. Might have to see about begging off early if it holds.

Yeah, I'd love to go up but this chase would even make the last one look insignificant. It's doable but I'd have to leave early as hell and I'd make it back ridiculously late. If it's worth it though....

(Looks at that triple point in SE SD/SW MN on 18Z NAM)

This really is quite an impressive-looking shortwave especially for the time of year, you wonder why we can't get setups like this in May and June but I'll take it.

If there's a profound Nader shot I'm taking it
