Hopefully Massachusetts follows.
Look for outdoor mask mandates start to go away in the next month or so from what I’ve read.

Just saw an article where a Brigham and Women’s doc advocated for the end of the outdoor mask mandate. From being out, most are already shedding them up here outside the center.

Yeah CT says outdoor mask mandate ends 5/19 and they even hedged on indoors, "masking may not be required by those vaccinated" and "not sure yet if it will be a mandate or a recommendation".

Not sure how you enforce mask mandates at an indoor concert or nightclub at 100% capacity.

Regarding the alcohol without food... have you had to order food to be served booze!?

Yeah. Most breweries wound up with a food truck on site and other places served sandwiches or something small and were OK. Glad that's changing.

Well I think up here the liquor licenses say you need to be able to offer some sort of food to serve booze (even a bag of pretzels) if someone wants it to dilute their drunk gut....that’s pre-COVID just basic license stuff... but you could just order booze without being required to buy a sandwich.

I always just assumed VT was the strictest with this stuff, wife and I have been going to to get a drink once a week most of the winter. Interesting.

Yeah I think it was there way for bars/clubs not to say they were restaurants and remain open with no one eating. It seemed to work OK though I can tell people are not caring nearly as much anymore. Was out in New Haven for drinks Saturday and didn't have any food.

You really can't.

What I think is going to happen is (we) the people are essentially just going to end the masks. I think as we go through the next 1-2 months you're just going to see people wearing them less and less. While I'm sure there will be business who require them if less and less people wear them are businesses really going to turn people away? But I'm thinking by Memorial Day we'll see the mask mandate go bye-bye. My original thinking was maybe 4th of July but I think it will be much earlier.

Yeah I think you'll see people just get more careless because you can't enforce that stuff in reality.

Glad to see we're turning the page and moving on. Looking forward to concerts, bars, clubs, etc. Gonna be a fun summer.

Ah that makes sense.  Their designation changes to “restaurant” with food and not “club.”

I just always assume us socialists in VT had the strictest guidance and things seem pretty normal for a while, but yeah stuff like that is different. One positive here is you can still order cocktails to go, old liquor licenses never allowed for that, ha.

In MA definitely.  No food = no drinky.

I presume you've been to the Moan and Dove... One of the OG craft beer bars around, but no kitchen.  Not sure if they'll ever reopen, which is sad.  Like movie theaters though they were fighting macro trends even before the forced closure.

Had to order a pizza at the bowling alley just to have a beer.

We go to PiNZ in Milford some. Cant just get a beer and bowl. Have to get some kind of food. Doesn’t make much sense.
A few months ago, Friday’s wouldn’t bring your beer until you ordered the food. They brought my wife’s ice tea, and the kids lemonade while we were deciding what to order, but they wouldn’t bring my Sam Adam’s until we ordered. That silliness lasted a few weeks.

I wonder what the odds are of the Red Sox or Bruins going to full capacity. Would be awesome to see full capacity for playoff hockey (or at least the Stanley Cup finals). I wonder if the NHL is still considering a playoff bubble

Red Sox for sure.  Outdoors etc. plus their season lasts until October.  I think by July 100%.
Bruins...not so sure.  When are they done?  Maybe they go to 25% then 50%?  But they will be done this season before 100% is my guess

Yeah, I used to deal with a lot of bars for work and it’s really sad to see the hit they took.  What is even more tragic is that just months before the pandemic lockdown started, Moan and Dove had just taken over Seymour in Greenfield, also no kitchen.
Double financial  kick to the nuts for the owners.

:(

I'm sure the league would like to get as close to 100% as possible moving through the playoffs just for revenue. Playoffs start in another month and I think the Stanley Cup finals round is in August so there is some potential I think for 100% capacity by then. I haven't heard anything though on upping the capacity levels (in Mass).

I think the Hartford Yard Goats can do full capacity May 19
