You gonna take your mask off or keep it on for a while longer in case of variants and possible long-term damage to your lungs from even mild COVID?

What I do, is simple. I listen to experts.

Pfizer gives me protection from severe forms of covid. There is no proof of a break through variant with mrna vaccines.

I wore masks because it was CDC guidance. It's no longer. The state has decided to continue mask mandate. So I will until its OK not to. Which I expect to be days.

I will not stomp my feet and cry like a five year old because I have go wear a mask a few more days.

I heard yesterday that at least one was symptomatic.

The odds that they'd all test positive based on standard PCR false positive rates are tremendously small.  And it wouldn't surprise me if they tested again to rule out some kind of contamination.  But that hasn't been confirmed.

Maybe they were all exposed with a fair amount of viral load that otherwise wouldn't have infected them?  In a way it could wind up being an advertisement for vaccines (aside from that one guy) but the question is can they transmit?  Maybe put the rest of the team in a sauna with them and do an experiment for the good of humanity?

It wouldn’t be a false positive in the standard sense. The amount of viral load is probably so small they’re  either not sick, have the sniffles, and/or aren’t contagious to anyone.
We need to stop testing healthy, non symptomatic people.

the indian variant is tearing through the AstraZeneca vaccine in india.  i think it's offering pretty good protection against serious outcomes but it's not doing much to prevent spread.  there are stories of entire families who were vaxxed who tested positive.

People who say they don’t mind masks probably aren’t sitting in a classroom for 6-7 hours a day, an office cube for 8 hours, or working in a warehouse 8 plus hours a day wearing glasses.

I’m in the office for 8hrs two days/wk, no issue. No one else there complains either. I would hate to have you or Phineass in the same space...would be non stop bitching like old women about the same thing over and over again. Vomit.

It's become a virtue signaling lightning rod in both directions. A political football. Science and COVID concerns are a distant second to that stuff.

I am just glad we can finally get back to personal choices.

Pretty good chance this clarification means masks back on at the gym tomorrow.  Kind of wish the CDC announced yesterday for leg day instead.

Gov. Charlie Baker’s office issued a statement on Thursday night saying the governor welcomed the new health guidelines from the CDC and would be “updating Massachusetts’ COVID restrictions in the near future.”

Same thing he said when the CDC got rid of outdoor guidance. Within 2 weeks, he lifted it. He’ll lift it after Memorial Day.

Are you going to take off your mask now?

Do you guys laminate your vaccine cards and carry them with you? Seems to be a big thing with the older folks in my family. They all carry the cards with them and have been worried about forgetting or losing it.

What’s the going rate for a fake one? I’m in the market

it tends to come from those who were indoctrinated with Orwellian literature in school during their cold war upbringing.  they tend to have paranoia issues.  even a bureaucrat sneezing could be a "slippery slope" to totaliaranism.  i just laugh at them.  they are amusing

You won't need a fake one. Vaxx passports are clearly not happening here, thank goodness. Some semblance of freedom still exists in the USA. I'm sure up in Canada they are going to have biometric scanners at every doorway and roving "Public Health Enforcement Units" to check vaxx status. Gotta squash those 100 cases they have.

Lol

I assume you’re a pretty progressive/socialist type and really don’t care how much the government interferes with your rights.
You need to worry about a government who makes you jump through  more hoops to get a carry permit than to vote.
I hope your sake and my kids that we never get to a totalitarian state. It’s closer than you think. But folks from your age group can’t see it. I hope you’re right and it doesn’t come to it. But when a government can shut a business down, shut churches down and infringe on your 1st amendment rights and people see no problem with it, we’re pretty far down the road.

I’ll get a weeny tag for this from the usual suspects, but that’s ok. You younger guys don’t know what you’ve lost.

A family we are friends with went to the opener. They report the experience is very well done    Amazing that a few year ago that area was a wasteland

Not to mention driving thru Kelly Sq was taking your life in your own hands. I just hit the square, didn’t look anybody in the eye and gunned it

I just closed my eyes and sent it.
The on-ramp from 290 is sketchy now though

Tons of good places to eat in that area as well

There’s a bbq joint right up the road that’s really good. Smokehouse Urban BBQ.  Has a great selection of beer too. You can get the small serving, beer tasting thing there too.

oh it's possible, but a totalitarian state is not going to arise from local mask ordinances or annoying regulations.  the descent into totalitarianism almost always begins with the rise of a demagogue.  look throughout  history and this is the case.  the fact that this country was capable of electing a demagogue shows that the conditions are present within society to take us there.  the brazen attempt to steal an election by convincing your supporters that it was stolen is something you see in myanmar or the banana republics of latin america.  i honestly never thought i'd see that stuff here.  if you're truly worried about totalitarianism, worry about those things...not petty mask ordinances.

ironically, george orwell was a democratic socialist.  he was a bernie sanders kind of guy who cared deeply about the working class.  he'd probably be horrified that his readership turned out to be paranoid libertarians. LOL.

When I was younger we used to do the Kelly Square shuffle, hit every bar for a beer in that area, back in the 80's there were quite a few.

Colonial paid 5 mill to the hackers. The line is back up but it will take 5-6 days to get all the stations supplied again.

Have you seen the hacker’s business plan?  It’s wild.  Also good to know they will now look at their company ethics and only attack ones that will avoid social consequences.

The good news is that you can ask any questions in the customer service chat and they will provide excellent technical support upon paying the ransom.

“Our goal is to make money, and not creating problems for society. From today we introduce moderation and check each company that our partners want to encrypt to avoid social consequences in the future.”
