So the mask thing ends now correct? No specific dates by state ?

Last I heard, weeks ago, Lamont was leaving it up to individual businesses to decide, but DPH was recommending we continue wearing masks. Probably not anymore though so as not to be in conflict with CDC guidance.

Yeah when he announced the 5/19 full reopening he sort of hedged on masks. I'm guessing that changes today - just depends on how quickly they can draw up the EOs and get them out.

The CT death rate is only slightly lower than MA.

MA just has lots of super cautious people. I spend lots of time in NY, NJ, CT, MA, and NH (and slightly less but still a decent amount in VT) and MA has by far the most cautious population IMO.

New Hampshire and Maine nobody gave a shit last summer when we were up there. Didn't make it up there this winter unfortunately, but last year was pretty much business as usual except wearing a mask inside stores. Almost nobody wore them outside.

I'm dying to go back to the casino but I suck at gambling. I put $40 into a machine, do max bet and lose my money in about 3 seconds

Well that's your first problem.

Learn how to count cards and ply a little blackjack. Foxwoods still has a decent game to beat. They deal pretty deep into the shoes there.

I have a friend who dominates in blackjack. I watched him win $500 in a span of several minutes and he only started with whatever the minimum bet was

Not sure, Baker has had some weird hills to die on during this. MA was pretty lenient about travel early on and gave a lot of leniency to stores being open, but then he had this weird battle with golf course owners that basically made no sense last spring. The outdoor mask mandate was really bizarre too this past winter after not having one at all last year except in cases where you were unable to stay 6 feet away from people for more than 5 minutes or something. But then changing it to all the time made no sense.

Either way, glad it's all coming to end soon.

I think a lot of states had these little battles as tinpot dictator governors suddenly wielded way more power than they ever had in the past.

A lot of governors spent the last year stroking their egos and appearing on TV as much as possible to talk about themselves.

Maine was pretty restrictive indoors over the winter. At least the places I went. I assume they tightened that up when the "fall wave" hit and there was renewed panic.

There will be some places that do it. I was actually just talking with a co-worker a few minutes ago and she said she was somewhere a few weeks ago and she had to present it.

Carrying the card though is stupid...thing is huge. I think you can obtain a copy of it online or just take a picture of it and keep on your phone. I heard from a co-worker too it might be tied into your license...or on your license record.

I mean I don't think it's a big deal if you have to show proof at certain places...no different than having to show your license when purchasing alcohol if asked to do so.

no way it is on your license. that is 100% made up BS.

Same, although I've won some on the slots, so not all bad. Wife and I went into Oxford casino (15min away) once and threw $20 into a slot. Not one spin was a "win" where you get some coins back. Every pull was a loss. Walked out in <5min.

And just like that, mask and capacity restrictions are being lifted May 24. Guess she wasn't going to go against CDC, although why wait another 2 wks?

Duh, to make it seem like a "reasoned, science-based decision" she made all by herself and not just a jerk reaction to the CDC guidance, which itself was a jerk reaction...

Government inertia...
