Have you considered bat boxes?

The source of the mosquitoes here are on my property, and the way to deal with it is eradication at the larvae stage. If I do that I wont see more than a random mosquito for most of the summer. Otherwise being outside is a disaster lol. There aren't enough bats or even birds that can make a dent. At that point I have to spray and hope for hot and dry, which then burns up my lawn.:yikes:

You’re the Goldilocks of the forum when it comes to rain. :P  after a week of rain, lots of “need dry weather to get rid of the swamp” and after a week of dry weather after the wet period “time to talk drought...grass is dead”

Its harsh here dude lol. Difficult to strike the right balance. I know from years of experience that having a nice lawn in the woods with well drained soil is futile. I still try though. It will look decent until late June. The woodland pool/wetland is a reality I have to deal with. I cant legally mess with it(drain it) so I spend 150 bucks each spring and an hour or so of my time and it pays off bigtime. Once the trees become active, the temps warm, the water table drops and the wetland dries up. In a normal summer. Last summer was a bit different.

The GFS keeping things dry for late week is crap IMO and will most likely become wetter as we move closer.

Edit: The Euro is also showing the same but I am still not sure I buy it being that dry. We'll see.

We tend to do streaks well. Ride the recent dry one :)

For @CAPE:whistle:

I'm not worried about drought lol. Not rooting for it either. "Normal" rainfall would be a nice change of pace for a few months though.

eta- coming off a wet J-A-S-O-N-D-J-F here. March just might end up pretty average or even below for precip.

Speaking of which, what would you say that the difference is in climate between your two locations in terms of growing season start, leaf out, etc.?  Is McHenry like a month behind Arlington?

I went back to the historical data from our weather station there and for the last four years, the last freeze was:

2017 - 5/12

2018 - 5/11

2019 - 4/16

2020 - 5/11

It’s about four to six weeks between locations I’d say.  While trees are starting to leaf out in late April/early May, they aren’t fully leafed until the last week of May.  It’s really quite stark driving from Frostburg crossing into Garrett County in early/mid May.

About the same here above 3500 elevation, amazing what a little height can do. Things are just starting to bud/pop here down in valleys, still 45-60 days away up on top.
