I remember it being below freezing with wind during the mid afternoon that day with frequent squalls. I was hiking with the dog in shorts that morning as we had a high in the 50s with 850s around +3C and sunshine... then by late afternoon a mini-CCB had developed and dynamically cooled the entire column to 0C in pounding wet snow.
