Amazing if the all time loser team in the history of competitive sports has the most viewers per game even with 11,112 losses. The Phillies are the winningest team in town as the only team with 2 Championships that anyone younger than 50 years old can remember....being a Philadelphia sports fan means dedication and loyalty with very little reward....we are great fans!! https://www.bizjournals.com/philadelphia/news/2021/05/27/76ers-flyers-tv-ratings-bely-their-performances.html?fbclid=IwAR2NpaCRWpTjjil9_VMlwGTyPT6DZFpKIo-cBHV3AL3mWAcv2IevwM8356c
KamuSnow
So our grass planting ran a little late this year for a few reasons, and we got out the frost blankets. This is an area that we seeded 2 weeks ago yesterday, which had minimal grass on it. I had already taken up the blanket on the near side of the tree when I took the first pic, and the second one is afterward. We call it the jiffy pop effect, lol. Birds~69
I somehow missed this last year why Glenn abandoned his winter forecast. I knew he didn't release a forecast but didn't know exactly why... "I have determined these forecasts to have marginal what we call “skill.” Skill is anything better than flipping a coin. There’s no reason to do them at this point other than public demand. I’ve always said that if it ever got to the point where I didn’t feel the confidence to be able to do it with skill, then I would ask: Why are we doing it? We used to do them with skill." https://www.phillymag.com/news/2020/12/07/philadelphia-winter-forecast-hurricane-schwartz/

Heisy
Can't believe we're back baby. Less than a month until Dec 1. Felt like it would never get here. Anyway, I feel a lot better going into Winters where everyone expects below average snow. It just seems like winters that are forecasted to be AN snow by the majority are always a let down. I have sneaky good vibes about this winter. No science to back it up, but I like the overall pattern at H5 right now. I think we have accumulating snow before the 10th. I'll bump this after the 00z NAM drops a foot plus in the city a month from now. 1
Birds~69
Sad to see Jim's retiring. Remember the days w/him, Jim O'Brien, happy/angry clouds and when he broadcasted O'Brien's death. Gary Papa as well... 1
JTA66
Definitely the end of an era. I'm old enough to remember when Jim was just the weekend anchor and Larry Kane was the big cheese at ch6. Oh, and don't forget Joe Carcione, your green grocer. 2

Heisy
Anyone know if Rob22 is still around? He used to be a mod here. Was one of my friends back in the day. We both went to the same university for op. Meteorology. @Ralph Wiggumyou remember him right? DT used to call him Rib. He is one of the original wright weather posters. I haven't seen him post in years, just hoping he's okay. He used to run the weenie of the year contest, which I of course won years ago.

CoolHandMike
Greetings, all! I'm back from my 6-week field trip to the Mojave. Interestingly enough, it went from hot at the start of my trip (with highs during the day to the 80's) to cold with snow in the last few days I was there. The mountains around the western desert got a couple of feet from what I heard, and they were absolutely beautiful. A couple of times when I checked, it was colder there than here; I was stomping around the desert in full winter weather gear while my wife was sitting on the back porch in a t-shirt at home. Anyway, I'm glad to be back! What'd I miss? 1

I watch videos frequently on youtube w/people hiking/snowmobiling into the mountains to a remote cabin snowing like hell, chopping wood, ice fishing, sitting around a fire while camp cooking and enjoying some brews. Yeah, sure beats the hell out of SE PA. What did you miss? Read around, you'll see...
