I am sick of all the rain we have had in the last few years. I am hoping this is not the new normal due to warmer average temperatures with concurrent atmospheric moisture holding capacity..  When we moved into our house in 1993 we had the big snow and then the next year or two (?) we had a drought which necessitated a deepening of our well.  Although at the time I thought the situation sucked I sort of wish my area could return to those hot, dry summers with winters of normal seasonal snowfalls.

It rains all the time now in sunny California too, Death Valley now has a lake.

Flyers giving the Eagles a run for the most epic collapse down the stretch by a Philly sports team. :bag:

(Thank God I wasn’t around in 1964.)

You can start by going back to the Phils last year being up 2-0. Ari ties it 2-2 Then the Phils only need 1 win to go to the WS with final 2 games at home. Ari wins. (Not epic but very bad)

Thanks for the reminder. I guess our epic, historic, snowy, nino winter helped me get over the Phils.

Piece of cake, what Flyers need to make the playoffs:

Flyers win tonight in regulation vs. the Capitals

AND Red Wings loss tonight in regulation vs. Canadiens

AND Penguins loss Wednesday in regulation vs. New York Islanders

Red Wings tied the game w/5secs left in regulation which mean Fly Guys done...

Despite not making it I still like Jones, Tortorella and crew w/additions.  Sucks they went on that damn 0-8 streak...I knew they wouldn't win the SC but playoff experience is important.

Would put down big bucks they make the playoffs next year and a little noise.

Now onto the Sixers....

Devils fan here. Don't be too confident about the Flyers making the playoffs next year. I learned this the hard way. After last season, I assumed we were going to take the next step and contend for the Stanley Cup this year. Instead, we got a regression this year. I'm not saying this will happen to the Flyers next year, but they've overachieved this year (like the Devils did last year), so it's possible they could step back next year instead of taking the leap forward to the playoffs.

The Philly area forum is often mocked as having so few posts. My take is we are serious about the weather and especially potential snow and don't post a lot of worthless banter in our main weather thread. That said, I am hoping for some good winter northeasterns this year that affect DC thru Boston. It's been so long.

That's always been my take. Yes, I'm sure there are fewer of us than there are in the other "I-95" forums. But we don't clog up our threads with, "the 12z Euro should be interesting" or "18z GFS up next". Gee, thanks for the great insights. <_<

The "clog up" is highly important and key and should be noted.

But damn we really have nothing to talk about weather wise in the immediately future. All I can add is there are a ton of squirrels doing their thing and geese flying above...GO PHILS!

Phils vs Mets...Mets have that "destiny's darlings" look about them. They remind me of the 2022 Phils.

I have always been a Yankee fan, but being in between NYC and PHL my second favorite is the Philly's.  Truth be told, I would have loved the Orioles to have advanced.  My preference now would be a Yankees/Philadelphia world series, but either one of which would be a huge media draw.

No doubt the networks would love a Yankees/Dodgers World Series. SD/KC is their nightmare scenario

If the Phil’s weren’t in the postseason this year, I’d probably be rooting for KC.

I say it all the time. Weather wise, we are damn lucky to live where we do.

We don't get the blunt force trauma from an approaching hurricane. We get a rare blizzard, or strong EF3+ tornado.

Any major storm damage is mitigated in a few days for the most part.  Don't get me wrong we have had our fair share of bad weather too but it's less frequent than other areas.

Our significant, newsworthy events are far less severe than in other areas.

We’re getting 20 inches of snow? Try 6 feet in a week in the mountains out west or the lake effect snow belts.

A hurricane is traveling up the east coast? Probably a cat 1 at best here after devastating the southeast.

Severe weather outbreak likely? Lots of minor wind damage and maybe a tornado or two, meanwhile Alabama and Oklahoma are dealing with EF3+ tornadoes.

Or Mets/KC. That actually happened in 2015, and it was one of the lowest rated World Series ever. I bet the networks are praying that the Dodgers win Game 5. Mets/Padres NLCS would be an absolute ratings disaster.

I literally have zero memory of that WS and I usually watch them all regardless.
