LP08
At 45, main WAA slug is still positioned to go through the cities, compared to the NAM that has it further north in PA. Waiting on soundings for it
Eskimo Joe
12z GFS is better for the cities than the NAM.

ULL north of NE is slightly further east. as PSU said--its a fine line...its its too cold we dont get the heavies. You gotta swing for the fences. We dont want Richmond or EFZ getting snow

Eskimo Joe
12z GFS implies near warning level snow for IAD and DCA before the flip. Haven't look close enough for BWI yet but it's a good run.

The Ole Bucket
That's a hit across the entire forum... except Short Pump/RIC. And it's all in like 6 hours. Would be some really insane rates.

Cobalt
Wow, GFS Para tries to changeover areas NW of DC after initial mixing (some other guidance seems to be suggesting this too), but it adds 3-6" for those areas with that secondary burst of snow.
high risk
The GFS para total snow maps look nice, but when you parse the details, it focuses the thump over DC and points south; it's quite a bit less for those of us further north. It does big another slug of snow through the northern areas later in the day, though, so the storm total maps end up looking like a win for everyone. But it definitely has some details that are quite different from the ops GFS.
Eskimo Joe
It appears as though the 12z CMC and GFS flip the western and northern suburbs back to a period of moderate snow on the backside.
EHoffman
Just now, Ji said: if thats all snow...ill take it. my bar is only 6 this go around Pivotal maps don't include sleet like Tidbits maps do, so should be "accurate" as far as a snow map from a GFS run goes. And good on you for keep the bar low
