North Balti Zen
Just had a rogue C2G bolt that lit up the neighborhood and shook the house w/ the accompanying thunder. Probably related to that cell in Owings Mills, I suppose.

Mrs.J
Been pouring here for about 10 min now. Storm is not moving very fast and up to .33" already. Feels like a sauna out there.

vastateofmind
Damn. That cell north of Baltimore and heading into Bel Air looks like it means business. Just about showtime here in SE FFxCo.
BlizzardNole
Mean looking cell passed just south of me with the magenta radar returns. Wonder if any hail down there around Montgomery Village?

SnowenOutThere
Man this is a textbook example of a DC split, which I can say I am part of.
psuhoffman
I was in the storm that ended up Tornado warned in Baltimore county as it crossed 795. Not surprised. Had a very pronounced wall cloud with clearly evident updraft and some minor rotation at that time. Followed by gusty winds and large hail in the core. I kept refreshing the nws site kinda surprised there wasn’t a tornado warning based on what I observed.

Wonder if any hail down there around Montgomery Village? I'm in the NE edge of Montgomery Village (near Laytonsville), heavy rain but no hail here. More likely down towards Derwood, I'd think. Maestrobjwa
Been a bit of a Baltimore split too...missed just north and then south (and possibly north again?)

09-10 analogy
Gapped so far, and a peek at some of the SPC mesoscale doesn't seem too encouraging for DC immediate. Still, the Sterling discussion said: "Continued moisture advection and height falls overnight will likely lead to at least scattered shower and thunderstorm activity persisting well into the overnight hours, though with somewhat less intensity overall" (ital mine) So maybe we'll get something a bit later? 09-10 analogy
Except for that one storm last week, this thunderstorm season has been underwhelming so far. Then again, "it's Chinatown DC, Jake."
dailylurker
This is why I'm a fan of regular thunderstorms. Severe around here is like chasing that 2'+ snow event only (JI lol). Severe for my location is probably more rare then the big dog snows.
