beavis1729
Interesting NE-SW temp gradient as the relatively warmer air (plus warmer lake) wraps around the storm. Near 12F in NE IL, but only 3F in STL.

featherwx
Not even a flurry now—I knew there’d be some tight gradients across Cook and possibly within the city, but damn. Birds have even started chirping outside of my office because they think the coast is clear now

Cartier God
kind of crazy for grr to have no WSWs out by now, especially with the model consensus going into this event. curious to see if they adjust

The areal coverage that this event has and is hitting will be one for the books. Government employee here too, but I had to come into the office today. I already told the Director that I'll be working from home tomorrow. Yep, this is the one that most of the sub forum has been wishing for, excluding Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota, although they all got in on winter while all we saw was bare ground. Also, anyone else here on NWSChat? I got booted awhile ago, and can't get back in. Outage?

It seems to be tipping south every so slightly.

I’ve been in the area since May 2018. Almost 3 years. Two boomer snow storms in a week would easily top it for me.

Sciascia
I’m currently alone on a Harlem bus at 1:20 in the afternoon. Snow is heavy, visibility is terrible. My mask was frozen, as was the front of the hoodie beneath my open coat. The combo of low temps & heavy snow make this the worst conditions I’ve ever personally encountered.
homedis
Had some pixie dust snow for the past hour or so in Champaign and it made me a little concerned. Happy to report that flake size has improved significantly here.

Harry Perry
GRR issues a warning for Calhoun, Ingham and Jackson counties. Conservatively calling 5-8” with some 10” not out of the question. They’ll be adding more later I bet lol Kalamazoo doesn’t look any less favorable than BC or JXN.

Chambana
E-W roads are a disaster. Drifting already occurring in rural roadways. Almost showtime, the heavy rates are knocking on my doorstep. 1-2”/hr rates being mentioned. I want double digits. Would imagine Champaign will be paralyzed tonight /tomorrow.
