Took a while though. The roads are fine though. A tad slippery in the suburbs and backroads, but anything used with decent frequency is just wet.

Definitely a sheet of ice now. Is that from a lack of QPF? Gotta be colder in EC than here.

MN Transplant
Just took a walk with the dog. Sidewalks greasy but not slippery, if that distinction makes sense. There is a glaze on all elevated surfaces, but nothing significant. Maybe 1/8”. This would have been a big deal if it happened overnight. 29.2

stormtracker
This might be the worst case scenario ...light precip, well below freezing and continuing after sunset.
jayyy
Wifeys car is an ice sheet. There are icicles connecting the ground to the bottom of her car. Pretty impressive. Rates are perfectly light for accretion. Going to be an ugly night.

I'm sure DC had more precip than us today, but there was precip here. It just seemed like it melted in the middle of the day. Maybe the cloud deck wasn't as thick here because the precip wasn't as heavy and that allowed the mid February sun to do some work?

I'm not sure. Beginning to wind down right as the sun goes down. Without further accretion there's not enough standing water to create problems on the roads. I'd think this has to hang on till 7-8 to cause real problems, and radar doesn't show that to be happening. Worst case scenario would've been if this all started just a couple hours ago.

Bob Chill
Those pixie flakes have to be the drizzle version of sleet. No way a pixie flake is surviving the descent alongside raindrops and pellets. It's backwards logic

It's been 27-29 and lightly raining/mixing all day and the tree branches here aren't sagging, nor is the untreated sidewalk anything but wet. Seems impossible.

Snowcover helped, but transpose this forward 6-9 hours and throw in some slightly lower ground temps and it would be way worse. It's very close as it is, but accretion efficiency wasn't quite there for a big dog ice storm.

Light drizzle and more precipitation to the south should add more accretion, right? I’m worried we’re calling it over before it’s over.

SnowtoRain
About .25" accretion just eyeing the trees, might be slightly more on the surfaces that froze earlier in the day. 29.7 now. Roads just wet for now.
