Miss Pixee
Icing up now in Southeast DC. Cars have cover, some frosting on mulch and grass. Streets are half glaze/half wet. Steady at 32 degrees. Roads are gonna get ugly. News reports of an overturned concrete truck at a SE gas station. Friend of mine at the hospital for falling on ice. Yeoman
39 minutes ago, Deck Pic said: Short answer - Rental. Long answer - I'll be here until early April, so hopefully there are some marginal events or legit events in March that I can cash in on. So far an A-/B+ for weather for my first 2 weeks. Lots of precip and clouds, persistent 6"+ snow cover. Only cracked 40 once, and four accumulating snow events totaling 15". No serious cold, but persistent below normal temps. Had a low of 13, but that was the only really cold night. I called an audible in mid January, and had to stay in the "general" DMV area per WFH guidelines at work, so this has worked out nicely. It could have been 2 weeks of 40 and sunny with no snow or snowcover. Mid January was way too late to get any decent place for less than a billion dollars near Snowshoe or Canaan, so I had to find a way to stay within the geographic limitations and maximize snow potential. I am pleased with my choice given what was available. I rejected some nicer places because the elevation wasn't good enough. Nice! enjoy it.. you've miss nothing but heartache and disappointment
BTRWx's Thanks Giving
I don't hear any pings on my window. Maybe tiny graupel is accumulating?

goodwidp
Steady, but very light, freezing drizzle for past few hours in N. central Baltimore county. Just a very thin glaze, though paved surfaces seem pretty slick.
IUsedToHateCold
100 percent sleet now. Everything nicely coated in ice

SnowenOutThere
Over the past 15 minutes it went from light freezing rain and sleet to heavy sleet no freezing rain and then to a mix of heavy sleet and super tiny snowflakes and now a mist a very tiny snowflakes. I also went on a walk 15 minutes ago.. it turned to snow right after I finished. Well played.
SomeguyfromTakomaPark
Love the ice palace look that’s taking shape. The neighbors wire deer fence is perfect little tubes of ice now.
Wetbulbs88
Same old here in CC. Colder surfaces accreting. Some trees just wet though. Roads fine, even the car is mainly just wet.
WxMan1
Well, better late than never for us here in AA. 28/25 with sleet and freezing rain here in Crofton. Big ? will be how much accretion from FZDZ do we see tonight after the precip shuts off?
BristowWx
It sure my county has ever been under an ISW. Not that I can remember but I’m sure it’s happened
dukeblue219
Same deal in Silver Spring: it's been raining and sleeting on and off all day at 27 degrees, but very little is accumulating on trees or powerlines, and even our quiet neighborhood street is not slippery. Ice on the car and back deck looks nice but no real consequences yet.
Amped
Got microflakes mixed with sleet. visibility went way down.

SomeguyfromTakomaPark
18z HRRR has precip until 00z-01z with about .15-.2 left for DC. Temps cooling a couple of degrees too.

chris21
1 hour ago, WxMan1 said: As many of us hinted last night... Not a surprise at all. We have so many events, including the 3/16" of ice here with the last event after 2.5" of snow, where we get a glaze that sneaks up on us. There were far more glaring model signals going into this event however, including a steadfast ECMWF, that were screaming ISW. I kept pointing that out but everyone told me it was going to be a “non-event”. Looked like a clear high impact event in dc to me at least.
SnowenOutThere
Seeing everyone say how either they are getting ice or just no ice accretion is weird because for me at least there has been almost no ice on the trees. There is also no glaze of ice except on the deck but the roads are sleet covered and so is the yard. Seems at least for me to be more of a sleet storm. Miss Pixee
Cars icing a lot now...frozen "Popsicle" mobiles everywhere. Ice fangs. Grass now getting frostier white.
