WEATHER53
7pm ovs 28.4 and very light snizzle dont know if we are done and don’t have all the reports but this does not seem to have been an extreme event as forecasted NWS has a preoccupation with freezing rain perhaps because it the most difficult situation for the public to handle safely , It’s is an unfortunate tread socially to portray “worst case” as “most likely” . Always scratched my head when their forecasts include”...for this afternoon rain or freezing rain likely with high of 40” Being safe rather than sorry I can’t decry much but don’t think it is the best forecast method . SomeguyfromTakomaPark
I was hoping for some drizzle/mist to cap this off but doesn’t appear to be happening tonight.

I think we are done. Not sure the radar is filling in. Still not too shabby at my house. Sleet all day. This is a win for a winter like this. North Balti Zen
Kinda icy roads here in the neighborhood. Echo others, if this had been at night it would have been a pretty high impact event up this way.

ErinInTheSky
One thing I do like, even though I had virtually no accretion except for on cars (lots on cars), Is that it is keeping my white snow pack sticking around even longer now. EHoffman
Just got in from outside for a bit. Sidewalks basically a sleety sheet of ice, my car was encased in ice, roads look icy but generally ok. Probably like .2"
The Ole Bucket
If you all want a taste of winter, come down to CHO. Snow is compacted and now has a small layer of ice on it... still a few inches though. Roads are very driveable because all ZR and sleet fell during the day. It’s an icy and snowy wonderland for the first time in years.

Actually it was far worse than forecast. At least here in NW DC. 27 degrees and falling.

clskinsfan
Non event for those of us to the NW. Nothing on the ground or anything else. Enjoy the ice to the east ya'll.
Wetbulbs88
The grass outside is encased in a sheet of ice at least 1/3” but I’d say more. All plant life encased in thick ice. The suburban roads are kind of slippery but snow is far worse than this. If this had started at 4PM it would’ve been a disaster. Just not cold enough for a skating rink. Yeah we had a WWA this morning. This definitely warranted a warning. Especially considering the crap they issued WSW for earlier this year. Miss Pixee
Will go out later and carefully try to get a night pic....really icy out here. Backlight looks great against coated tree branches. Streets half shiny half white. Even my walkout landing has concrete slush. Temp 30.

Sernest14
Generators for the win! Going on about 3.5 hours- roughly .55-.6” here on top of 6” snow (compacted down to 3.75” now)
Bob Chill
Man, it's hard ice crust on the sidewalks. Need studded boots to walk up my driveway. Straight dangerous. My road was treated not long ago but the sides are getting crusty now anyway. Overperformer imo. Xray techs will be pulling all nighters in the emergency rooms.
SomeguyfromTakomaPark
Very solid ice event. Probably the best I’ve experienced in this area (been here since 2009). As others have noted if this occurred overnight, or perhaps earlier in the winter with weaker sun, it would’ve been better, but still nice for this region.

Swiscaster
Been tooling around town and was impressed with the roads for the most part. Lee Highway is just wet, Lee Rd and Old Lee Rd are a little dicey, Lee-Jackson Hwy is just wet, and Lees Corner Rd was clear for the most part but had some slush on it. 28 and light freezing drizzle. Same here, we're about 10 miles north of your QTH. Boring weather day for us! I have a few thousand board feet of trees to cut, need this snowpack GONE! But I don't like mud either. MN Transplant
Sure enough, sun went down and it all froze up nicely. There is the faintest breeze, and you can hear the trees crackle. 27.3 and freezing drizzle.
