Kentucky
JKL ISW sadly verified, just lost power. Trees been cracking all night long. Was quite the downpour near the end. The entire show accumulated on trees. 2
Shocker0
We've finally switched to sleet or snow or something here in Crossville. Idk but the grass is so crunchy it's making me crave some tacos.

Shocker0
We've gotten a dusting of something overnight despite nothing forecasted. It's down to 13 here which surprised me since we didn't have any snow or sleet cover to speak of.
Shocker0
It's actually snow apparently and coming down decently enough. Better than nothing I suppose. Id say the roads are pretty icy underneath because we got a lot of rain.
Holston_River_Rambler
Yeah same here. As always, not as favored for upslope as you, but I woke up at 3 AM to let yoda dog out (see storm thread for Thursday, lol) and it was snowing nicely. Some picturesque pixie dust right now, with lowered visibilities.
1234snow
Big flakes flying now. I am surprised. It is down to 32.
Sweetpea Farms
Um, today's forecast was sunny but it is snowing in southern Lincoln County, TN. Oh well, it's one of those "s" words, anyway. Currently 11 degrees, wind ENE at 0-1 mph, barometer has risen a bit to 29.92 inHg.
WestTennWX
Clouds cleared out overnight here allowing the temps to really bottom out. Minus 1 this morning, -9 wind chill
Wintersnow888
Yes I'm happy to see snow after all the layers of ice, of course nothing is showing on radar. Guess maybe radarscope would pick it up?
Jed33
I see Memphis is at 1. That is also the coldest that they have been since sometime in the 80’s. Perhaps even more impressive is the reading of -1 in Dallas TX and 2 in Shreveport LA! A testament of just how strong this Arctic airmass is.
bamabonners
I thought all the precip had moved on. Woke up to some snow and it's still coming down... Nothing on radar.

Holston_River_Rambler
I think we've just had so much low level moisture hanging around the past few days, that the true arctic air, now that it is being allowed to sweep in after yesterdays storm, is wringing it out.
Shocker0
Welcome to beautiful Crossville, where the snow never starts until the advisories end. Balmy 11° and super fluffy. 2

PowellVolz
Question.... if sleet is roughly 3:1 and snow is 10:1, if this had of been all snow how much snow per 1” of sleet would it have been? .

Shocker0
It's coming down good here but the radar refuses to acknowledge it. All the while the sun looks ready to poke out at any moment.
Sweetpea Farms
Still snowing on this sunny day! Getting a lil whiter. Seven miles north of Alabama in Lincoln County, it is a balmy 18 degrees , winds calm ENE, and 30.01 inHg on the rising barometer. So we should see an end to the snow soon.

NOAA says: "On average, thirteen inches of snow equals one inch of rain in the US, although this ratio can vary from two inches for sleet to nearly fifty inches for very dry, powdery snow under certain conditions." So ...1" divided by 2" = .50 times 13" = 6.5 inches. Or, 13 divided by 2 = 6.5 inches for those who, not being as mathematically challenged as I am, like the short way.
John1122
The DGZ is below the radar beams again today. Flake size is quite large for such cold temps.

Shocker0
Just a hair over 2" now here. This is the type of snow where if you sneeze it'll all blow away though. The ratios have to be really high with how airy it is.
Sweetpea Farms
And it continues to snow even though the forecast calls for a sunny afternoon and the barometer is steady to slightly rising at 30.03. This reminds me of living up North when it would get cold and it just seemed the temp itself would sometimes wring not-forecast flakes out of the air. It's quite pretty to watch them float down here in Lincoln County, 7 miles above Alabama and 12 miles above the "no freezing rain zone" there. What a difference 12 miles makes! 19 degrees, no wind.
