I’m checking out WPC’s latest freezing rain forecast maps and my backyard has an 80% chance of 0.10”, a 70% chance of 0.25”, a 40% chance of 0.50”, and a 10% of 1.00”.  So what does RAH know that WPC doesn’t?  Or does WPC just churn out verbatim model data?

I’d say Anywhere from Riedsville-Altavista VA better Charge there Phones tomm. 40% is actually relatively high imo for 1/2” ICE product

That’s definitely just raw model output.

Help a brotha out folks, I am seriously short on time to really figure this out.  As you know I'm rolling back from Cincy tomorrow with your polar vortex in tow.  Now I'm worried I'll be making my own ice storm down I77.  Is this legit?  Should I stay put until Saturday?

The only part of that route that has a current winter storm warning is Beckley, WV.  Here’s Beckley’s NWS forecast.  I’ve seen worse conditions.

12k Nam already looking much more juicy at hr 33. Let’s see where this run goes. Coverage also looks like it was better portrayed on 12k vs 3k for the current event rolling through now, at least for my direct area.

Nam has freezing rain now all the way into Catawba County.
