magpiemaniac
Northern Guilford at the Rockingham county line has been clobbered. Outages everywhere. I’m at 0.30” and large limbs have fallen. Roads are fine. Duke didn’t sound optimistic that power would be restored anytime soon. Thankfully, I had the propane topped off two weeks ago. I can go a good bit on the generator. Only about 10% of High Point electric customers are still without power now after hitting 50% late this morning. I feel very fortunate to have only lost it for a couple hours.

knowledgeispwr
Here in SW Winston-Salem, just south of 40, while we did dip below freezing last night, it wasn’t enough to cause issues. Everything here was just wet with no noticeable ice on trees or surfaces.
David Johnson
Spectrum says we might not have internet and cable until Tuesday. Oh, the humanity.FYI. The cable plant runs off power as well. Often times, the cable may not be damaged. Just out due to a commercial power outage. .

BullCityWx
Looks like there could be a bit of a round two tonight with up to a tenth of an inch in Northern Durham/Orange/Caswell/Person counties.
eyewall
I will post some shots from Henderson tomorrow (Sunday). They are via drone and from the ground. Quite a bit of tree damage there near thr quarry area. Ice accrual was probably around 0.3 inches or so and it had already been melting by the time I got there. If you look at the woods across the street you can see a good example of a marginal temp ice event with a warm ground. Almost a straight horizontal line between the iced branches and the no ice branches close to the ground. 2

Yes so many pine trees right beside the interstate creates this gauntlet effect! But i dont wish this ice storm on anyone. Prayers for safety! kvegas-wx
Ice storm a few years back made 220 south (now 74 or 73 I think) headed towards Pinehurst look just like this. Several miles of pines laying on the road before they cleared it all out. I would be hard pressed to sit calmly in my vehicle.
WinstonSalemArlington
This is why I took I-95 south from Petersburg to Nashville; US 64 to Raleigh; I-40 to Winston-Salem, instead of I-85 today.
