Guest GWHDD definition
Per Gas Forecasting Expert: GWHDD refers to Gas-Weighted HDD. It is a unit of measure for heating over a specific geographical area weighted toward natural gas usage. It starts at the city level (i.e. HDD is heating degree day and uses 65F as the base temperature; if the average temperature for a location was 50F, that would equal 15 HDDs) then averaged over a region with a weight toward natural gas usage. In the case of our bi-weekly discussions, we are referencing national numbers (i.e. continental U.S.). We also do other global regions, and within the U.S. all states, RTOs, ISOs and EIA regions. We can also weigh degree days by electricity, population, oil and propane; although, we mainly use natural gas on this platform. We provide intelligence, so please let us know if we reference something that doesn't make sense to you. The goal is to make this as beneficial to your needs as possible.
