SnowLover22
Seems like a good storm overall. This map looks pretty accurate to me. Can anyone else confirm via ground observations?

steffen
is there any kind of precedent for this type of East Coast storm with the highest totals apparently in the Finger Lakes?

Oh yeah! Like half of them. Super common. Just so little population you’d never know.

Can anyone else confirm via ground observations? That map is actually generous for my location. I’m right where I81 crosses the border between Onondaga and Oswego counties (just above the “c” in Syracuse) so it’s easy to find me. I measured 7.2 inches for the entire event, about half of the city of Syracuse.

Maybe somewhere between Syracuse and ROC. 8” for Roc is west side airport. I think eastern suburbs make a run at 12. But huge bust potential for anywhere N/NW of Finger Lakes. I’ll take it.

Yep, a really good map. 16 minutes ago, steffen said: is there any kind of precedent for this type of East Coast storm with the highest totals apparently in the Finger Lakes? Well the highest totals were in New Jersey and PA. Finger lakes didn't jackpot they did really well. The top analog had central NY as jackpot zone though from CIPS. Different locations got their snow at very different times. The finger lakes totals were separated by 24 hours from the big down state totals. Blocking! Over 2 foot drifts in places here. I measured average depth at around 17 inches. I think 3 of those inches were snow depth before the storm if I remember correctly so 14 inch storm total. I remember a storm when I lived in Buffalo (Miller B, not LES) - was pretty late in March of 2010, 2011, 2012 maybe? - that dumped about 2 feet there. I think I ended up in last place in the Syracuse portion of this forum with just 2.6 inches in over 12 hours. Had decent returns over me all night but only had light snow at the surface. 1

Wow...downsloping was a killer. It looked like you and the Southeastern quarter of Oswego county were gipped by this one. I guess it often evens out...as you guys were the winners several times already this winter. The true WINNERS this year have been those in Southern Onondaga county over to Madison county. It's been quite the higher elevation winter.
