Should get down to 13 or 14. yeah the wind died down - and in the areas with significant UHI, that actually puts a brake on the temps dropping. Just like in NYC, if you want temps to drop, you need some CAA (usually there it was a nearly due north wind coming down the Hudson) to get the temp to drop much at night. Still have not had a temp in the teens this winter, even with low dewpoints, clear skies, and almost no wind several times- and some snowpack this time. Perfect radiational cooling conditions. This area always radiates very well in these situations, with zero UHI influence and not in close proximity to the bay. In this case maybe it is stale polar air that sat over the central US for days and moderated before heading east. eta- went out to grab some firewood, and there is a stiff breeze. Sleet still big mounds in the gym parking lot. Gorgeous now though I know it will get too warm for my liking later today and this week. Ah well. We had a good run this past week.
