WVclimo
Picked up 0.3” of wind-blown snow overnight. More snow showers rolling through now. Lots of blowing snow also. Driveway that had been cleared now has some decent drifts across it. Up to 11.7” from this system.

A highly anomalous storm will slowly move over the Washington Metropolitan Region this month and dump ridiculously heavy amounts of snow that will make the Great Blizzard of 2016 look like a spring day in Central Park. You are all gonna need a MUCH bigger shovel. I agree.. shits going down.. LR is showing several east-west impulses and very cold air.
Whitecheddar
Well i thought it was over yesterday. Woke up for work and outside everything is covered once again.. very light snow falling. Radar has a band that goes from a few hundred miles into Canada all the way down to almost Richmond. Really pretty amazing 4 straight days of snow falling here. Can't remember a time I can say that.

That would put them at 7 or 8" storm total More like 5" in Salisbury since Sunday

midatlanticweather
I cannot believe I am waking up to the 4th day in a row with snow falling! That is cool. Looks like 0.2" fell in these snow bands! Wow!

BristowWx
Another coating here as well. It’s becoming a regular thing that I’m getting used to. Daily snow.
astarck
It looks like there's a sizable snowpack at Snowshoe. For reference, you can only see the 30" in the upper right corner of this webcam. https://tv.ivideon.com/camera/100-XuewuT7fHsestwuf7gCIO9/0/?lang=en

Chris78
Wow at the amount of snow on top of the catoctins this morning on the way to work between Smithsburg and Thurmont. Probably 20" OTG up there on the highest point of Route 77.

Even though the vast majority of the forum didn’t see totals like that, I still think this was a cool storm. And coming into this winter, most were expecting a complete dud (and possible shutout in the cities). And more active tracking on the way.
Potvinsux
Another 4" overnight in Snowshoe. Probably 12-14" total since Sunday. Snowpack is amazing. January 16 and now.
Chris78
Definitely an anomaly compared to most of the subforum. We got into that extremely heavy band that sat over 81 for several hours Monday afternoon. Picked up about 7" in 5 hours. I'm in the darkest Orange shading in that NWS map that's been posted a few times in this thread. I'm about 5 miles from that red dot that picked up over 20" in the blue ridge summit/ Sabilisville area. But that area has several hundred feet in elevation over me. I'm like 750. Those areas are 1100 ft +.

It’s great news for Wisp, Snowshoe, and Canaan considering the extra costs of running during COVID and the awful winter last year (relatively speaking). Can’t wait to get back there in another week.

Agreed! And with the cold coming, should keep them open through March, with more trails open entire time.

aldie 22
Drove home to Leesburg this morning with light snow falling on 15 for a good part of the drive. Really pretty landscape...seems like a fairly uniform storm in general minus a few jacks and some unlucky spots. Leesburg's preferred method of sand is pretty hideous though but hey...it snowed!!

Plows are the worst. Back in college (central PA), they would use coal ash instead of sand and/or salt. That stuff got *everywhere* as things started to melt.
