It’s snowing like crazy all of a sudden” - that’s as good of an observation as I’ll ever get out of him

They are in the dead zone under the h7/85 lows. The best moisture feed is north of them then rotating south to their west.

JakkelWx
I remember yesterday foolishly thinking that because the winds were turning out of the NE earlier than I thought, that I'd stay snow longer. It changed over to sleet then rain 6 hours earlier than I thought it would.

clskinsfan
.3 in the past hour 8.7 for the event so far. Can someone explain what causes a band like the one from Hancock to Winchester to just set up and sit stationary like this? Is it because the low is stationary. Or does it have something to do with the air at the upper levels?
jayyy
Off and on precip all morning is making my head spin over here. Went from mist to slop to nothing to snow/slop mix to snow within 3-4 hours. With each passing band, the levels seemed to cool off more and more until it was finally able to support snow. With the 700mb finally off shore and the RH field looking a lot better for northern areas, let’s see what happens. The environment for Moisture transport is much better than earlier this morning
