Nelson
Looks like we will finish with 3.8" here. Little lower than my prediction but sounds like some higher amount nearby. Overall, the forecasts did pretty well around here.

I am rochester ny was wondering if it was cold enough for that. Hrrr showed it but I didn't believe it. It comes down to magnitude. Lake enhancement has been in play for this setup from the beginning, but the HRRR was overdoing it.

tuanis
Seems like the snow got wetter as the storm went on. The stuff early on was decent-ratio. There’s definitely a layer of wet stuff in there. Here’s where I’m at. Definitely some serious depth. Hope we don’t get a heavy rain on top of this.

michaelmantis
Just some mood flakes from the Lake where I am (30 miles from Lake Michigan in N IL) and my parents who live near O'Hare said its snowing pretty good there. In all, most of the forecast turned out to be pretty on the mark. Also looks like the chance of a big rainer for N IL later this week has gone down a bit (know that is another thread!). After the snow that is on the ground now, a rainstorm would not be good.

snowstormcanuck
Guessing MKE's done well. I saw a pretty sweet lake convergence band on radar earlier around there and assumed it was ripping. 4 flakes here. Knew hrrr/nam were overdoing the LES. Way too dry and inversion heights too low.
tuanis
Goes to show we really don’t understand all of the aspects of lake enhancement. LOT emphasized repeatedly on their Q&A yesterday that since this was a “warm storm” from the Pacific they didn’t expect any enhancement from the lake. Yet yesterday’s runs of the HRRR will largely work out close to the lake. This storm was moisture-laiden, could that be playing a role in the lake enhancement? About 11” and counting here. 1
