Chicago Storm
I don't see the big difference. The RGEM vs. the GFS is what you need to see. RGEM simply doesn't amplify this at all, if it did, it would be like the NAM.you at least used to do a better job than this.obviously past your prime.. If that were to actually play out verbatim, then ORD will have gotten 67% of its’ average annual snowfall in just 9 days.

RCNYILWX
Looking forward to another fun shift tonight. MTF will be doing the grids and AFD. Certainly an interesting setup to get accumulating snow in the area. In addition to the support for dynamic cooling, it helps that the surface high is not too far off to the east so lingering dry air aloft helps the process. Thundersnow12
0z runs so far are all pretty solid across northern Illinois (NAM, nest, RGEM, ARW, and NSSL-WRF) while the NMM is not.

hawkeye_wx
There is definitely a south trend. The UK has finally sunk a few inches down into Chicagoland.
Hoosier
Overall trends are looking a bit better around here. Seems like things are favoring a somewhat delayed deepening of the surface low, with the GFS in particular backing off on the past few runs as shown below. Although surface temps may still be a problem, the prospects of more of the precip falling as snow are going up.

Hoosier
Even with the more favorable trends, I don't think I could go more than 2" here yet. Temps are just too marginal to feel confident in anything higher. If it absolutely rips for a few hours, then could maybe argue for more.
Hoosier
On another note, this one should really be a wet/low ratio snow for Chicagoland, at least until the tail end.
