hawkeye_wx
Conditions are deteriorating rapidly over here. We went from beautiful, relatively calm snow to significant blowing and very low visibility.
ChiTownSnow
Could the convective nature help to rapidly cool the atmosphere more than normal? Thinking of the cool outflow from a thunderstorm as an example

Hoosier
One thing I'm looking at is how fast temps are dropping after it starts snowing. MLI is at 34 and it has been snowing there for an hour and a half, with similar readings in that part of Illinois. Btw, ORD has torched up to 38, so gonna take some extra work to cool off toward freezing.
tuanis
HRRR seems pretty spot on with the heaviest amounts in that area/Dubuque area up through NE Wisconsin/UP.

This morning the heavy snow dropped our temp from 34 to 33, but then it held there until the front came through.
