Temps are just too marginal to feel confident in anything higher. If it absolutely rips for a few hours, then could maybe argue for more. 6z HRRR has some nice rippage for a while. Mogget
Winter Storm Warning for a glaze of ice, then 4-6 inches of snow. Edit: watch, not warning!

OrdIowPitMsp
NAM develops a weenie band right over the metro and drops 3-4” before continuing to strengthen to the east. Euro says sorry Minneapolis but this thing doesn’t get it’s act together until it’s east of you. Enjoy the dust on crust. I’m riding the Euro
michsnowfreak
Definitely has that thump look. Would be nice to see a few hours of heavy snow. DTW has not officially had heavy snow yet this season, have had moderate snow several times (I had hvy on Christmas, just not officially). Last SN+ was Apr 17 when visibility was 1/8 mile. In fact the much maligned 2019-20 winter reported SN+ on 8 different days.

Hard to say how much will accumulate at first, but should really start to get going right before it quits Thursday evening.
Frog Town
Definitely wagons south with this so far today. Seems to be a disconnect with Thermals though. Models seems to be playing catchup with a quickly evolving pattern. Thoughts??
purduewx80
Energy looks strung out and less phased, so it’s overall not as warm ahead of the front aloft nor does the low deepen as much. Still will have some areas that cash in on a few hours of mod/hvy snow tomorrow.

Malacka11
I see it as added adhesive for our snowpack. I'll gladly take every last inch. It does pale in comparison with the uncertainties of next week though. 1

Was surprised that LOT didn't mention the heavy/wet nature of the snow in the afd. They are playing up the blowing snow threat but given the temp profiles aloft and marginal sfc temps, it sure looks like a wet snow until we get toward the end.

Thundersnow12
Weird look but Euro p much with everything else for 3-4” across metro. Slightly drier run compared to 6z which had 5”+ in some areas.

Hoosier
Let's be clear. Temps tomorrow could be a bit of an issue, but using today to try to gauge what is going to happen tomorrow is not really useful. Totally different circumstances.
Chicago Storm
I understand that. I also understand that we're blowing past forecast highs at noon. The immediate metro is the only area overachieving, which is pretty much the norm in these cases. The rest of N IL has temps ranging from the mid 10’s to mid 20’s..
