Now that is something you don't see everyday. Also you guys still have 10" down there? We are down to piles up here for the most part. Would have thought the near 50's on Saturday would have significantly melted it. Guess not.

It's definitely less than that in a lot of places but the bottom half of the pack is a solid glacier from late December/early January

...A Look Back at the Climate for the Month of February 2021 for
Chicago and Rockford...

At Chicago, the average high temperature was 27.4 degrees, which
is 7.9 degrees below normal. The average low temperature was 13.0
degrees, which is 7.1 degrees below normal. The average
temperature for the month was 20.2 degrees, which is 7.5 degrees
below normal. During the month of February, 1.25 inches of
precipitation were recorded, which is 0.54 inches below normal.
21.6 inches of snow fell, which is 12.5 inches above normal.

Two daily records for Chicago were set during the month of
February 2021:
* Record daily lowest maximum temperature of 4 degrees on the
  14th.
* Record daily snowfall of 6.1 inches on the 15th.

One Top Ten Monthly Record:
** 9th snowiest February on record since 1871 with 21.6 inches of
 snow.

At Rockford, the average high temperature was 23.8 degrees, which
is 10.4 degrees below normal. The average low temperature was
7.4 degrees, which is 10.3 degrees below normal. The average
temperature for the month was 15.6 degrees, which is 10.3 degrees
below normal. During the month of February, 0.81 inches of
precipitation were recorded, which is 0.60 inches below normal.
9.2 inches of snow fell, which is 1.5 inches above normal.

One daily record for Rockford was set during the month of
February 2021:
* Record daily lowest maximum temperature of 1 degree on the
  14th.

One Top Ten Monthly Record:
** 6th coldest February on record since 1905 with a mean average
   temperature of 15.6 degrees.

February at DTW finished with a mean temp of 23.3F which is -4.8F but the torching last 2 days of the month really brought that departure up.

 

Total precip, like Dec and Jan, was below avg at 1.47". incredibly this slam-dunk-wet la nina winter was actually 16th driest DJF on record at Detroit (3.86").  This was probably the biggest surprise of anything this Winter.  Very little rain fell... In fact since freezing rain on January 1st the amount of liquid has been extremely negligible. What has fallen has mostly been snow. DJF temps averaged +0.8F and snowfall for DJF was +5.5".

 

With 21.8" of snow, February finished as the 11th snowiest on record at Detroit, just incredible run of february's this century (I'm working on stats ill post later). 16 days of measurable snowfall in February tied the Feb record for Detroit. Snow covered the ground the entire month, as it did in Feb 2014 & 2015. This was also the 4th Feb since 2014 to have snow depths of 14"+. The largest events at DTW were 10.4" on Feb 15/16 (1.8 wave 1, 8.6 wave 2) and 4.1" Feb 4. Peak depth 14" on several days.

 

I saw 22.7" of snow in Feb, largest events 11.0" on Feb 15/16 (2.0 wave 1, 9.0 wave 2) and 4.2" on Feb 4 (3" in 90 mins). Peak depth 15".
