Brian D
Now that Jan data is out, I updated my chart for the Great Lakes region. Warm Jan's not unusual at all. Data source: https://psl.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/data/testdap/timeseries.pl Edit: changed graph with data from the region reflected here in our forum
cyclone77
After tonight/tomorrow's little 1" duster it looks CAD for quite awhile. Think I'm getting more and more ready to start thinking about spring.

madwx
https://www.emc.ncep.noaa.gov/users/meg/gefs_plumes/index.html?stationname=KMSN Just wanted to show everybody this website. Its the equivalent of the SREF plumes but for the GFS ensemble. You can just select the station on the map and you can bookmark it. Very helpful for seeing how the GEFS members are trending. 2

OrdIowPitMsp
Chicago is only 4” behind Minneapolis on snowfall for the season. No doubt will pass us in the next few days. What a turnaround for you guys.

Spartman
A crappy Valentine's Day weekend with no sun at all following one of those weeks with not many days of it. Outside of accumulating snowfall chances, looks like we may very well be fixing for the longest overcast stretch of the season.
madwx
56% of the country is covered by snow now. Will be interesting to see how high that number gets later this week
madwx
up to 70.4% of the country covered in snow. Have a chance of passing that tomorrow, depending on how much melting(if any) occurs in Texas
cyclone77
Back in 2017 we hit 70 degrees on the 17th. That seems almost unfathomable with how cold it's been as of late. We're about to pop to zero after 42 consecutive hours below zero. Pretty impressive in January let alone mid February.

Almost strange not to have a mid January thaw. Became quite accustomed to the random 50+ day in January, usually snuck in a winter golf day. As it’s going, Feb has a decent shot of having snowcover the entire month as well. If you had told me on the brown Christmas Day that 2021 would start white and I would make it to Valentine’s Day without seeing grass, I would not have believed you.

That MDW value has to be near/in the top 5 all-time no? By my personal tally the city proper has received more than 40” of snow in the last 22 days; official ORD total is a smidge over 36” for that time frame. madwx
We've had the 6th coldest first 15 days of February here with an average temp of 3.7 degrees.
