Natester
Lowering my call to 3.5. My call of 5 inches seems way too high. This is going to cause many people to become complacent when it comes to snowstorms. 5

Yes, since the snow will likely be on and off due to dry air.

steve23guy
Hmm accuweather bumped my totals up from 4-8 , to 6-10 ... the higher amounts were south of us earlier , I’m guessing this is tracking a tad bit more north and west? NEILwxbo
0.5” in DKB, ripping pretty nicely now. The hrrr had only 0.1” through another 2 hours
hawkeye_wx
This is brutal. A large pocket of dry air continues to be parked over east-central Iowa and it's destroying any precip that tries to move in.

Harry Perry
Flurries have begun in Battle Creek. Right on cue.
RCNYILWX
I think the convective bands lifting up from central IL should help with the snow rates from near here (LOT) and north once they get in. Starting with evening updates here. Edit: looking at SPC mesoanalysis, there's a relative minima in max 2-6km AGL lapse rates (6.5C/km) over NE IL with steeper lapse rates southwest of that (7.5 C/km) so we could be seeing the response to those lapse rates getting advected northeastward.
Malacka11
Honestly, looking at radar trends, I find it hard to believe that we'd get less than 5". I know that's nasty considering where we were, but I have to admit I'm still hyped.

You know, it would only be fitting if this dry air pocket stuck in place for the whole storm and CR doesn't even crack an inch. I know that won't happen but still. Big band of probably 1-2"/hr getting ready to move in. Dry air has poked in, but posed only minimal issues here so far. Still outpacing 12z precip guidance.
