bowtie`
After a smattering of rain during dinner time, I saw just a little bit of color in the sky around 9 p.m. so I made a quick run to the pond. Because of the rain I did not want to slog through the mud so I just stayed on the asphalt close to the firehouse. So no water nor reflections, just clouds baby! What it looked like to the northwest when I got there. Taken with the 16-35mm at 25mm... A close up of the color. taken with the 100mm... I thought the best color was looking to the northeast at the glowing embers located right above the firehouse. Taken with the 16-35mm at 26mm... bowtie`
Coming home from dinner, saw a cell that looked like it should run over my house and town. But darn if that thing did not do a "Left turn Clyde". and zipped right to the west of me. So I only have two images tonight taken from my house as it opened up a bit as that cell passed by. Looking northeast and my house and trees. Taken with the 16-35mm at 29mm... Looking northwest as the color was fading. Taken with the 16-35mm at 35mm... bowtie`
I went out to the pond just in case the cirrus (which as south of me, between Jasper, IN and the KY border) was close enough to image. It really was not that close but there was something else to make it sort of interesting. It looked like smoke, dark but transparent. and it was co-mingled with the slight color to the south. And the Sun did not illuminate it. Was it from that huge chemical fire in Illinois? Canadian wildfires? I have no idea but it was sure there. When the cirrus was yellow. Taken with the 100mm... When the cirrus was red. Taken with the 100mm again...
bowtie`
Busy day behind the viewfinder. Started off with some afternoon cumulus. Looking northeast. Taken with the 16-35mm at 16mm... More afternoon cumulus looking southeast. Taken with the 16-35mm at 27mm... The sunset had very little to it. Just some contrail remnants and a bit of smoke on the western horizon. Taken with the 100mm...
bowtie`
Got to use each of my three lens this evening. Started off with the 24-70mm at 46mm... As the Sun fell into the convection in Illinois I switched to the 16-35mm at 35mm... Ended the evening with the 100mm... Cheers!
bowtie`
The storm line unzipped right to my east and south this evening. ANd with a little bit of clear sky to the west, it made for a rather photogenic evening for looking at the backside of clouds. When I got to the pond looking south at the tail-end Charlie cell. Taken with the 16-35mm at 16mm... Looking to the east. You can see they have started with the structural steel at the new building. Going to shred my views to the east soon. Taken with the 16-35mm at 26mm... The red looking to the east. Taken with the 16-35mm at 35mm... Ending the evening back to the south like I started. But this time it is with the fading pinks and the start of the incidental light and the Moon overlooking it all. Taken with the 16-35mm at 35mm...
bowtie`
Plenty of clouds led to plenty of images this evening. Some weak crepuscular rays to start things off. Taken with the 16-35mm at 35mm... Some nice color dynamics with all the different cloud heights and types. Taken with the 16-35mm at 24mm... Best crepuscular rays of the night. Taken with the 16-35mm at 27mm... Sometimes I just like the design. Taken with the 16-35mm at 30mm... Start of the gold with the yellow. Taken with the 16-35mm at 26mm... Last image of the night. As the Sun dips behind the warehouse. Taken with the 100mm... Cheers!
bowtie`
Plenty of clouds again this evening. Some nice pastel colors also. Start off looking northeast as the yellow was starting off in the lower levels. Taken with the 16-35mm at 19mm... Moving over slightly to the southeast. Taken with the 16-35mm at 35mm... Looking to the east as the pastel orange and red start to take over. Taken with the 16-35mm at 35mm... A quick gander to the northwest and in your face reds of the post sunset. Taken with the 100mm... Last image of the night is back to the southeast and the more subtle pastel colors with the Moon off in the corner. Taken with the 16-35mm at 35mm... Cheers! bowtie`
The race was on this evening of the clouds versus the dry air. Looking northwest as I got to the pond. Taken with the 165-35mm at 30mm... Close to local sunset. Taken with the 100mm... Inverting the GND I got this image. Taken with the 100mm... Last call for color. Taken with the 24-70mm at 51mm... bowtie`
Living on the edge of systems can bring some nice visuals. Looking southeast when I got to the pond. Taken with the 16-35mm at 25mm... The rest of the evening is oriented to the northwest and the crepuscular rays. Taken with the 100mm... More of an overview and while dim the rays were very broad. Taken with the 16-35mm at 35mm... As the color was diminishing. Taken with the 100mm... Good night my darlin', where ever you are...
bowtie`
Been awhile since I did one of these. Had a family emergency in NY and I have been away and a bit behind in processing images. These two images are from June 26th. Some interesting cloud shadows looking northwest... Still looking northwest with a broader cloud shadow... bowtie`
Now back to the normal. Tonight's sunset. Looking west with the smoke on the horizon and not much in the way of clouds overhead... The better cloud was looking to the south...
bowtie`
Just two images of close to local sunset this evening. It was very murky out there. A vertical representation... And a horizontal representation...
bowtie`
Had a few clouds and some slight effects this evening. Started off with a cell bubbling up just southeast of me when I had just gotten to the pond. Taken with the 16-35mm at 22mm... Some broad and slight cloud shadows for the first look to the west. Taken with the 16-35mm at 25mm... A little sharper cloud shadow. Taken with the 24-70mm at 57mm... The last of the color just before the Sun raced behind the cloud shield and dimmed the rest of the color for the evening. Taken with the 16-35mm at 25mm... Cheers! bowtie`
I thought tonight was going to be a grey out so I did not go out to the pond. Was just sitting on the front steps sawin' on the git-fiddle when the overcast broke and there was this short-lived image of the sky conditions. Taken with the 16-35mm at 18mm... bowtie`
Today was a mixture of periods of rain followed by periods of sunshine. Figured I would head out to the pond in case it timed out decent. Starting off with a gander to the southeast as I got out to the pond. Taken with the 16-35mm at 22mm... First look to the northwest. Various clouds at various heights made for an interesting color combination. Taken with the 16-35mm at 26m... Going vertical just a little bit later. I like the green tint in the middle of the image. The ay you can see the green tinge in the previous image makes me think it was a real color and not a product of the GND/camera interaction. Taken with the 16-35mm at 31mm... Local sunset as the Sun sinks behind the warehouse. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm... Post sunset just before the sprinkles started up again. So the last image of the night before I headed back to the car. Taken with the 24-70mm at 54mm... Cheers!
bowtie`
Best views were towards the south pre-sunset. Because that is where there was some pieces of blue sky. Looking south. Taken with the 16-35mm at 16mm... Looking to the east-southeast. Taken with the 16-35mm at 22mm...
bowtie`
It was a smoke sunset this evening. When I got to the pond the Sun had just sunk into the thick smoke on the horizon. Still a dab of hite at the top of the image. Taken with the 16-35mm at 25mm... Close to local sunset as the Sun sink into the warehouse. Instead of a sun pillar this is more a smoke pillar with how red the pillar is. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm... As the post sunset gets going you can see all the smoke. everywhere. Taken with the 16-35mm at 19mm... As the color start to fade, the contrast goes down and the image gets more *even*. Taken with the 16-35mm at 18mm and a little bit of cropping... Cheers!
bowtie`
Tonight with that disturbance in Missouri, I was right on the edge of the clearing. Gave me some nice visuals. All images are looking to the northwest. Pre-sunset as I got out to the pond. Taken with the 16-35mm at 29mm... Close to local sunset as the camera says 9:04 and sunset was at 9:10. The Sun was belo the warehouse at least. You can really see the smoke underneath the cirrus still up high. Taken wwith the 16-35mm at 16mm... There was a little bit of red this evening. Not enough to call it a flash, more like a slurp of red. Taken with the 16-35mm at 35mm... Cheers!
bowtie`
July 21st. I was in central New York and caught these two images around sunset. Looking southwest pre-sunset at some cumulus. Taken ith the 16-35mm at 33mm... Closer to local sunset looking to the south with the Moon and some cotton-candy colored clouds. Taken with the 100mm...
bowtie`
Back Home Again in Indiana. One of those sunsets that I can not make up my mind which image to share. Too many to choose from. Start off with the look to the southeast when I got out to the pond. Taken ith the 16-35mm at 27mm... First look towards the west. Taken with the 16-35mm at 23mm... Close to local sunset and the gold/bronze moment. Taken with the 16-35mm at 33mm... Beginning of the post sunset with the yellows and orange. Taken with the 16-35mm at 32mm... Ending the night with the red flash. And what a flash it was. taken with the 16-35mm at 35mm... Good night my darlin', where ever you are...
bowtie`
I figured tonight would be a race between between the disappearing clouds and sunset. It was. Starting out close to local sunset. Taken with the 16-35mm at 35mm... As the post sunset colors got started. Taken with the 16-35mm at 33mm... Turning to solid orange. Taken with the 16-35mm at 31mm... Here comes the red/pink from overhead and the east. Taken with the 16-35mm at 27mm... Last of the reds on the horizon. Taken with the 24-70mm at 42mm... Cheers!
bowtie`
Tonight as all about the pre-sunset. Best variation. clouds and color occurred before the Sun set. An overview from hen I got out to the pond. Taken with the 16-35mm at 21mm... More of a symmetry shot. Taken with the 16-35mm at 28mm... To end the night, a vertical orientation. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm...
bowtie`
Tonight you could look at smoke. Smoke and some more smoke. Started off with a shot of the Sun. It is shot very dark as I was trying to see if I could see any of the tiny sunspots. The answer was no. But the colors of the reflections seemed to make this interesting enough. Taken with the 100mm and cropped fairly severely... Start of the post sunset... End of the post sunset colored smoke...
bowtie`
Once again, mainly just another smoke night. The dirty gold/bronze hour when I got out to the pond. Taken with the 100mm... As the Sun was dipping behind the billboard I went wide angle to show an overview. Taken ith the 16-35mm at 25mm... When the Sun re-appeared from behind the billboard. I like how the intensity of the light straight on the Sun is still so high it turns what looks red still to straight white while the reflected light on the pond surface is blood red from the extra light scattering from another reflected surface. Taken with the 100mm...
bowtie`
Tonight was all about the 100mm. All images were taken with that lens. There was some actual clouds looking to the south when I got out to the pond... No clouds looking to the west but a nice bronze moment... On the visual satellite it looked like there as no smoke in the area. But off to the west I definately could see some smoke post sunset...
bowtie`
Woah. A cloud on the western horizon during sunset. I almost forgot what that was like. It was only a small cloud but still oodles more than the recent trend. Close to local sunset. Taken with the 100mm... Post sunset and hat little red there was. Taken with the 100mm... Cheers!
bowtie`
The only cloud I had during sunset was towards the south-southwest. The orange taken with the 24-70mm at 48mm... What little red there was. Taken with the 100mm...
bowtie`
Had plenty of clouds this evening. When I got to the pond. Taken with the 16-35mm at 28mm... A little more of a symetrical image. Taken with the 16-35mm at 35mm... About as red as it was going to get. Taken with the 100mm... Cheers!
bowtie`
Have already lost 25 minutes of the sunset since June 30th. I am starting to almost miss actually seeing the Sun if I eat dinner before heading out to the pond. Time marches along. An overview right after I arrived at the pond. Taken with the 16-35mm at 19mm... Here I forgot about the reflection and just concentrated on the clouds above the horizon. The better to show the faint cloud shadows going on. Taken with the 16-35mm at 32mm... Cheers!
