Been lightly snowing for hours while areas west of me are getting the banding. Doesn’t look like more than 3-4” while 1500’ elevation areas are getting over 10”

Finally snowing in Mountain Lakes NJ.  Based on Sat and Radar it looks like the mid-level lows are swinging through the area.

So since it hasn't stopped snowing yet but it's compacted down to 1.5" already I can't claim 2" even though it was that much a little while ago? Sorry I'm going for max numbers   I hate warm snow storms but it's better than cold rain.

fwiw, you're supposed to use max snow depth for your snowfall, prior to compacting. So your 2" snow"fall" is accurate. Your snow depth now may be under 2".

Wantage NJ... a number of 2-4" reports around here in the northern part of Sussex County-nw tip of NJ... I was 2.3".  We'll wake up to a winter wonderland of snow covered trees etc and wet pavement. 32F.

Short term models nailed that little gradient across parts of our area. Plows out from me north this morning (probably unnecessary given the current temps and amount of snow but whatever), literally 2 miles south the grass wasnt even covered.

The snow cover line begins right at 287 where there is elevation: Tarrytown has snow, Nyack does not.

 

The storm was modeled perfectly. Models continue to be spot on. Disappointment source is from not excepting what the models are showing OR using one-off runs in the 24 hours prior to verify a wishcast.

Mapped results of the 1/3-4/21 event: 

 

Results of the event, which was basically 830A/3-6A/4...various start times. The worst appears to be have been centered near 6-7PM/ Sunday the 3rd.  Had sleet/glaze freezing drizzle in nw NJ and ne PA during the afternoon.  First 3 are CoCoRAHS and the last  image is the NWS LSR map of posted reports.  Note that WPC guidance didn't seem to handle the 08z/3  2"+ and especially 4"+ probabilities very well in the Poconos and Catskills.

T here.  Had sleet with a little snow mixed yesterday morning, light snow overnight, and a litle light rain and drizzle in between.  Total liquid for the event was only 0.07".

We weren't getting anything out of this one regardless of the temperatures.
