Plenty of cold in the hemisphere but ..yeah, the 500 mb - 

yah know - it looks like the engine that mechanizes the whole of the circulation eddy is nauseated - like ...sick.  

I have seen Chinook patterns before but that's really an anomalous variant of that... 

You know what that looks like ?  It looks like a 1936 heat wave circulation  - it's just doing it in the winter version.  fascinating -

It’s actually relatively cold under that cutoff ridge at the sfc in the prairie provinces and the upper plains...heavy heavy inversion and fake cold though.
