cyclone77
Still looks like a shot at 2-3" of snow here in the next few hours after we change back to snow. We were in a lull for quite awhile with drizzle, but precip has quickly filled back in and now it's raining again.
Natester
Spoke too soon, light snow here now. Likely won't get much from this though.

Just lifting my head high enough to look outside occasionally. Lots of melting, waiting on precip to restart

cyclone77
Sleet mixing back in for the first time since this morning. The transition to snow should happen within the hour hopefully.
Hoosier
Still holding at freezing here. I would've bet money on temps going above 32 by now, given multi-model progs and concern about just enough of a marine influence to help nudge temps higher. Could still poke above freezing in the coming hours but there won't be any diurnal help to do it rather soon.
MIstorm97
Surprised to wake up to 0.9” of snow and sleet outside. Light freezing rain now. Heard pingers and went back to sleep, sad. Apparently it flipped to heavy snow.

Such a tricky call on this system. Back down to 31° here.
Chicago WX
Finally made it to 32˚ here at my house, a couple of hours ago...and been that way since. No melting. Of course, just read LOT's AFD and they said all the ice melted south of I-80. Just took this shot of the gf's car. Totally encased.

CheeselandSkies
Car facing me was clean when it was parked there. Two forward-parked cars to the left have not been cleaned off since Tuesday night's snowfall.Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk
Kitchener poster
Picked up an inch of beautiful snow in about 30 minutes. Was just ripping. Now some pellets are coming down.

Our old "friend" the LAF ASOS is reporting freezing rain at 35/34. That's a pretty good trick.

Hoosier
Relatively quick hitting inch or two looks good around here. Even if temps go a little above freezing, don't think it will matter that much as it will be snowing onto an icy/slushy layer.

NEILwxbo
Here in Dekalb trees are not looking good with the ~.2” of ice leftover from Tuesday and whatever freezing rain we had today too. The 1-3” of wet snow this evening could bring some down for sure
Luftfeuchtigkeit
We're getting good sized flakes and reduced visibility now, and at this point I wouldn't be surprised if we get a couple inches. I hadn't expected it.

No it isn’t. I do hear a little dripping from the ice. Very slow melt. Quite a bit to go though. 4
cyclone77
Pesky warm layer aloft continues to hold firm here. Still sleet, with some freezing rain as well. The 2-3" of snow is now looking like an inch or two if we can manage to change to snow in the next hour or two. EDIT: Finally starting to see some wet flakes mixing in now that it's getting dark lol.

RCNYILWX
Can you have them set one up in Woodstock?Sent from my SM-N960U using TapatalkThere was an AWOS in Lake in the Hills that has since gone defunct. I'm not sure the process in getting an AWOS to an airport but it sure would be nice to have one in McHenry. As far as ASOS goes, I think it depends on the size of the airport to get one put in.
