I know we were talking about the RGEM over there... it looks like the earlier runs had the heavier amounts too far south. Yeah it did. It had been consistently holding it just south of here until 9-10pm, but it did correct northward with yesterday's runs. HRRR seemed to do real well here with the timing of the changeover, with the Euro/RGEM right there as well. I stopped looking at the NAM after it was being so pessimistic run to run lol.
Natester
One last narrow band of heavy snow incoming based on radar although it might be mixed with sleet before the show ends here.

Yeah, HRRR seems to this far have nailed mby. Snowfall totals are close, will have to see how the rest of the storm performs

michaelmantis
I’m right near the snow cutoff in north central IL. Hopefully that line over the MS river moves on in quickly. Measured a 2-3 from the first band that started a bit after 4 PM.
Baum
probably 2-3" down. Guessing freezing rain comes in eventually. Went as forecasted it seems.

Natester
Last time we had a major December snow with accumulations over 8 inches was back on December 24, 2010.

McHenrySnow
We'll be lucky to get 4". Just under 2.5" out there now. Still happy to get snow, was hoping for an over-performer. I guess I should move to Iowa.

cyclone77
50/50 sleet/frz rain here. Temp up to 28. Even though we didn't get the deep snows all this sleet and frz rain is making our 4.5" snowpack into a formidable glacier. 4

michaelmantis
Almost 4 inches here with the backside round coming into NE IL now. I got my Christmas wish of being able to go sledding tomorrow with my daughter. An ice glaze will only make it more interesting! ;-)
MIstorm97
Made a call elsewhere of 1" of snow and a glaze of ice for mby, Looks money based off the HRRR. Jealous of those rates out by Chicago and in Iowa. Buddy in Carol Stream said vis had to have been under 1/10th mile at times.
Geoboy645
It has been coming down liek crazy for about the past hour or so here. Eyeballing it off the sidewalks I would say 3-4" or so but that might be off. Easily 1/2" an hour rates right now. Little more wind and drifting then I though there would be.
Natester
I saw one guy getting stuck in the snow covered street desperately trying to get out (he succeeded after 10 minutes of struggling) and I just heard another vehicle getting stuck in snow. Must be around 4 inches of snow on the street.
cyclone77
Moderate freezing rain with heavy sleet, and even some big wet flakes again. Pretty wild out there right now under this heavy band.

cyclone77
One hell of a sleet storm going on here. At least an inch of sleet, with most of it in the past 30 minutes. Just a sleet deluge with intermittent huge flakes and still some freezing rain. Never seen anything like this. 3
