Jmoon
So depressing to see that artic air on our doorstep but not making it any further east. Hoping for a miracle in the little bit of time we have left this winter.

magpiemaniac
All winter long, we’ve heard the repeated mantra that “the players are on the field”. For almost every system that flies through, don’t worry, folks, because “the players are on the field”. Well, I don’t know about y’all, but our players seem to be a bunch of overpaid, lazy prima donnas who don’t want to work for their checks. ”It’s not my fault. Cold air mass couldn’t catch a ball if he tried.” ”Don’t look at me. I was being blocked by those damn linemen in the Apps.” Our players on the field suck. No heart. No drive. Might as well move on to spring training. 1
Pilotwx
FZ is fun while it's happening, but when it ends and no power for more than a week, that includes most places to get a warm meal. Been through it had my life experience i'm good with plain rain

Reedski
Was really hoping to get some action in CAE this year. My daughter is 6 and hasn't had a good snow yet. She's seen flurries twice I think. Every time it gets cold she asks is it going to snow. 2

It really shows the tough in the middle of the country and this seems to have been the prevailing pattern this year, with almost no movement East. It's strange, despite not having a major SER this year it's been there enough to keep out the true cold. Next week the cold looks to be magnified and epanded a bit East to LA/MS/AL, but basically seems to stay in place. And here's today's image. Again, the position of the trough and SER are very clear. Unfortunately this looks to be the case for the next week leaving us in the warm and wet sector. Just too bad we could get it to move East!
rduwx
I'm one of the few that grew up in Cary, NC and it's amazing how different winters are now in comparison to the 80's. It seemed we always had 2 good winter storms a year. Now we're lucky to get 2 good winter storms a decade...LOL! That's part of the reason I'm not on the board much anymore. I got tired of getting the Charlie Brown football/Lucy routine pulled on me all the time. Now after at least 15 years on weather boards the disappointment isn't as bad because you actually expect the models to change to either a warmer solution or to shift north. Now bring on the 7 out of 8 days of rain...
NorthHillsWx
GFS run has cancelled winter. Some might see some light ice over next couple days but we go into a spring pattern beyond that. Once what’s left of this artic air in the MW gets ejected it looks very spring like here later on.

I remember being able to walk across small ponds on the ice on the way to school. I was a lot lighter then though...

Grayman
I love this thread. We are all getting out 3 years of frustration. I’m still flake less for 3 years now. I think global warming has changed the climate. Rockingham is now the new Augusta Ga. My only expectations moving forward over the next 5 years is a very rare snowstorm but I really doubt that will happen. Winter is over forever .
