Yes, you forgot the Eastern NY wannabees who think we care how much snow they're getting.....

Kidding, guys! In reality, I'm just bitter you all have a snowpack during this long waiting period. (So THIS is what it feels like when you watch all the LES hit western and central NY while you look at clouds and flurries.)

Yeah. I’m not talking to anyone near Bing or ALB

Leading weaker trough aloft moves through Monday morning, then
stronger trough, currently part of northern edge of deep trough
offshore of British Columbia, crosses Ottawa Valley Monday night.
Lift ahead of the trough with sufficient over-water instability
points to lake enhancement of snow late Monday through Monday night
and into early Tuesday. Closer approach of the shortwave trough and
intervals of deeper moisture indicate areas east of Lake Ontario
will see the best chances for minor snow accumulation with the
system. ECMWF remains coldest aloft with H85 temps down to around
-10c while other guidance is warmer (GFS . Also some question on how
persistent favorable background factors can remain in place.
Increased pops, but still kept them at chance range for now. Mostly
WSW flow in the lake effect convective layer so put highest pops
across Jefferson into northern Lewis county.

Weak high pressure at the surface and aloft will eventually lead to
dry weather later Tuesday into Tuesday night. GFS and Canadian
indicate that could more of a lake response off east of both lakes
for Wednesday as another trough drops across with just enough cold
in place. Though ECMWF is muted with that idea, went for low chance
pops east of both Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. Lake effect will
diminish on Wednesday night as warm air advection begins to arrive.

By Thursday, attention will be on strong low pressure developing
somewhere in the region from the Upper Great Lakes toward Hudson
Bay. A lot of uncertainty how exactly late next week plays out
especially in terms of how quickly the strong low will translate
eastward which would result in deep trough and cold air making a
return to the lower Great Lakes. Most precip from the approaching
system occurs will not arrive til after the day7/Thursday. Main
adjustment over blended guidance this morning was to increase temps
and winds on Thursday ahead of the deep approaching low and cold
front. Though details are not clear, still appears a more active and
wintry weather pattern sets up by weekend of Jan16-17

Just because you’re not talking to us doesn’t mean we can’t keep rubbing in our plans for sledding with the kids tomorrow!

JK.  To THMatt’s point, we are usually jealous of you guys so we have to get our shots in when we can!

Like FlyingMXZ said, that Christmas grinch rain storm really F’d our start to winter.  This would be an epic start if we hadn’t had 30” of snow wiped out in 24hrs.

Went to Urgent care, general doctor, and cardiologist the last few days. However, I don't agree with the diagnoses. Got an EKG and Echo done at Cardiologist and they said my heart is the strongest they've seen. The cardiologist said it's most likely subconscious extreme panic/anxiety attacks. Which is weird, because I am not really stressed out about anything at all. (Besides my moms cancer) I asked about AFIB and the doctor said right now you're not experiencing that at all and based on the test results never really had an occurrence of it. My worst episodes come at night around 1-3am and wake me up from a deep sleep. My other severe episodes came watching a football game and a disney movie. I'm currently on a 24 hour heart monitor and prescribed some meds for anxiety. I'm quite afraid to get hooked on meds so I've been hesitant to take them, but I can't live like this so I must start somewhere to get rid of this feeling. Mental illness/anxiety runs deep on my moms side. I had one really bad anxiety attack 3 years ago and I remember the build up of symptoms that led to it, lasted about 20-30 minutes. These are so different. They hit like a truck and last for up to 2-3 hours. I think I'm going to ask for MRI of my brain to make sure there was no damage done from the combination of stuff I took at the initial episode on Sunday night. Every part of my body feels normal right now aside from my head. It's so fuzzy, pretty intense headache, and almost constant dizziness. Could it be vertigo? Sundays night episode threw my central nervous system out of whack and it's slowly correcting? Any suggestions?

I am really sorry to hear this. Can you think of any triggers? Environmental, behavioral, physiological?

I was just reading an article by the NHL player Colin Wilson, who retired after 10 or so years. He suffered though some really severe anxiety and insomnia problems, and it turned out he had untreated OCD that in retrospect is obvious to him, but at the time he was just totally unaware. Not to be weird or anything, but what worked for him was therapeutic use of psychedelic drugs, which allowed him to identify the parts of his personality and behavior that were causing him problems. I’m teetotal and I think it’s good for people to keep their use of mind altering substances to a minimum, but I recognize that taking medication for psychological conditions is absolutely necessary for many people. If you’re struggling to figure out what could possibly be causing these health issues, finding a therapist who uses psychedelics may be a good idea.

Sorry to hear about these reoccurring issues.  Anxiety issues are very common and it sounds like you need support from qualified individuals(people with similar conditions, clinicians, etc.).  While everyone on here is great with weather, unless they are a clinician, their advice should be taken with a grain of salt.  I worked with cardiologists for years and the results are not wrong.  If you disagree with their findings, request a stress test or further testing after your monitor results are given to you.  I wouldn’t ever take the drink that triggered this episode again and look for a medical community forum to discuss.  You may find your answers there, not on a weather forum.  Best of luck and trust your cardiologist.

When doctors can't find anything physically wrong with you they will always chaulk it up to a mental issue..

I have suffered with general anxiety order for 20 years now and you would be amazed by the amount physical pain and suffering it causes the human body..It can litterly mimic every disease known to man..I have been to the emergency room like a dozen times over the years thinking I'm dying..As a child I was diagnosed with ADHD but never really had feelings of anxiety until I was an adult, one day it just hit me like a ton of bricks.. Stuff like caffeine can be terrible for people that have anxiety..You don't have to feel stressed to have anxiety..I never do but yet deal with, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, chest pains, weakness in arms and legs, etc on a daily basis.. And they do tend to come in "episodes".. Covid-19 killed me emotionally, physically and mentally..

I would continue to get test done to rule out anything serious, if nothing is found it may indeed be anxiety, it can litterly pop up anytime in life..I'm praying for you dude and hope everything works out...

Disney movies can be quite intense...lol. In all seriousness though. Vertigo can be easily diagnosed by and ENT specialist (cause by fluid/crystals in the eardrum - mom had it). However, it could very well be anxiety as many people, especially men, tend bottle up their stress to a boiling point with some trigger (chemical, situational, etc.) and then it all kinda falls out with all sorts of symptoms. I've noticed that with many, including myself, previously thinking it- "Where did this even come from? I'm not stressed or anxious."

With that said, my wife has also been dealing with anxiety and just went to a holistic doctor and received a couple of homeopathic meds specifically designed to help (non-addictive as well). One of these is a high-quality phytocannabinoid/hemp/CBD (which I think Dave can vouch for). If you're interested in knowing them, I'll let you know.

Psychedelic drugs, such as DMT, has shown profound effect on treating mental health conditions such as PTSD and even CTE.  I disagree with giving anyone medical advice, unless you are a board certified medical practitioner, on what treatment they should seek.  Gotta button this conversation up because it is getting murky right now and not comfortable.

I feel like if I never combined that Bang energy drink, 2-3 beers during football game, and that 500 mg caffeine preworkout none of this ever happens though. I feel like there was a reason this occurred, it wasn't random. That's the part that is getting me. Did all of that throw me over the edge to a place I can never recover from?

Same here in terms of general anxiety disorder and battling COVID right now(exposed working in hospital).

This is real as I have had the same episodes and it was triggered by caffeine and once when I tried a Juel.

Worst part for me is the brain to gut connection, I have bad digestive issues which makes my anxiety go crazy and vice versa.. Probiotics can be a big help as well..I like to drink a couple glasses of milk kefir a day ..

My appetite and digestion has been normal, everything is normal except the feeling in my brain. I'm hoping it was what happened on Sunday with the cocktail of stuff I took in. My friend is a medical scientist in California. He told me GABA in the preworkout is the same chemical that is released when you take benzos, and should not be mixed with stimulants or caffeine. It will mess with your nerves. The stimulants are telling your nerves to let go, and the GABA/alcohol suppresses them at the same time and can make your CND fire wired. The intense 90 minute workout immediately following with all the blood pumping probably threw things into even more of a mess. He said it would take a few days to reset. I'm HOPING this is what it is and in a few weeks I'll be back to normal but who knows...maybe I started a chain of events from that one episode that will take a long time to recover from.

If the any of the meds they gave you are benzos, please, PLEASE don’t take them until you do a ton of research. If, as I suspect, your nervous/ gaba system has gone haywire, benzos could really make it worse. Text me if you want more- 585-944-6766.
I don’t know what you have going on but it doesn’t sound like simple anxiety attacks to me. But then again, anxiety presents in a 100 different ways.
I have a Kardia heart monitor. For $20 A board certified cardiologist will review your most recent scan. It’s simple, just place two fingers on it and wait for 30 seconds. It’ll identify A-fib right away, electronically.
I think you were on the right path when you immediately suspected the caffeine as being the culprit. I hope time sorts all of this out.
Obviously, disclaimer, disclaimer, disclaimer: I’m not a doctor. Not even a nurse! I feel a little weird giving you all this advice as I don’t usually like to do that. But I have some experience with the way you’re feeling.

Good post Wolfie.

I was a regular happy go lucky guy until April of 2007 when I had my first unprovoked panic attack while sitting and watching tv on a random Wednesday night (with absolutely no external stressors).  From that day on, I've never been the same person.  The genie is out of the bottle. Anxiety is the strangest and most unpredictable thing I've ever experienced.  Before this time, I never understood people who had anxiety, or what a panic attack was...I kind of thought they were just being dramatic.  Afterwards, I fully understood.  I've had several years that were pretty dark and full of anxiety, I've then had reprieves of several years where I had very little anxiety, but I always know its lurking and waiting for a trigger to rear its ugly head again.  As the years have gone by, I've learned to recognize the signs and signals of impending anxiety and depression (which are oddly intermingled and don't always present the way you think they would).  As Wolfie stated, Anxiety will mimic real physical pain and prey upon your fears.  It will manifest as real tangible pain even though nothing is wrong.  I have also been to the ER a few times thinking I was dying or having a heart attack....and of course they never found anything...because it was anxiety induced and mostly in my head.  Last fall was a hard time for me, then I did alright until the last few months where I have once again been fighting the anxiety demons.  Your symptoms do sound somehow anxiety related.  I'm not saying this is a for sure thing but something to consider.  Keep getting tests and going to the doctor.  I've found that once a doctor cleared me of a supposed ailment, my anxiety had less ability to convince me something was wrong.

I think your body was in strange state on that Sunday, maybe a little dehydrated, little  tired, then the alcohol, caffeine, and exertion just set something off.  Now your nervous system and brain are in overdrive trying to identify something wrong (or a reason for the episode) and amplifying normal sensations into panic inducing ailments.  It's a nasty feedback loop.  You feel little dizzy, you get worried, the worry makes you more dizzy, you panic more, etc etc.

I ****ing hate it, but that's life.  Some of us have fragile brains.  If you've never experienced anxiety, be extremely grateful.  It can be crippling.

We were told the high-quality  phytocannabinoid oil has no THC in it. Regardless, the other anti-anxiety homeopathic med is actually called GABA...lol 500mg by Douglas Laboratories.

I would also add that prayer and meditation can be very therapeutic.

I know 3 young people that thought they were going to die from heart attacks that turned out to be anxiety attacks.  They couldn’t believe it was anxiety attacks either.  I had a go a few years ago with it.  Symptoms were somewhat different but I could not figure out what it was.  Finally a doctor gave me a Xanax.  Put the fire out.  Then a head doctor put me on a children’s dose of some anti anxiety/depression medication and it went away in like a month.  Celexa?  Can’t remember.  Anyway it worked and I haven’t seen it since.  I don’t take those meds anymore but I was on it a couple years.  Definitely look into that possibility.

Edit: PS benzodiazepines are not the solution...stay away if you can.  Adavan is the mildest one if you must.  Stay away from the others...Xanax included.

The brain is a crazy organ. This is exactly what I got. I'll have to check the medications I got, she gave me 3 of them and I'm scared to take them but the symptoms are so bad at night its unbearable.

Also stay away from DR google it will only make matters worse..Delta hit everything on the head

That's exactly what my friend said. He said google will make it seem like you're dying from every symptom and makes it exponentially worse. All the researching I did Sunday-Tuesday only made it worse. It's a brutal struggle, because I want to know how to fix the issues I'm having all the researching doesn't really help at all.

Of course, all issues are unique and can be caused by many different primary ailments, but I too also have had many of what Delta had described and what Buffalo is going through... Back in 2013 and 2014... I never had axiety, nor depression, nor panic  attacks, before then.  I BECAME anxious when Dr's told me there is "nothing" wrong physically.  Then came all the head meds...not a great experience for me to say the least.   I was super pissed that they were so quick to start administering powerful drugs, knowing there was "something" physical.

Long story short,   After 7 or 8  months,  I found a doctor who had suspected it was a post viral syndrome... I had had a very nasty virus 2 weeks prior to all of my symptoms. Look up the term dysautonomia.   And if you look up some of the long haulers of covid-19, there are some funky things that go on after the virus has "cleared".

Just relating my experience,  And Know the frustration of not knowing! Good luck Buffalo!
