Not only do you have an obscene band, it’s also at like 1500ft or higher too.  I don’t think it matters too much but might have gotten just a little bit extra in those 1500-2200ft inhabited elevations in that area.

Oh yea for sure.  They also do well on NE or E flow also, So you had a deform band rotting for hours and a little elevation and some upslope assist possibly.

I was under the same band but only came in with a paltry 32"...lol.  Hard to get 30"+ when you are surrounded by 4k peaks on 3 sides, going to need that band to do it and it happened.

49.5” the record or is it 56”....hmmm either way here’s the ultimate weenie article I keep bookmarked.

Hawaii ought to have a record listed.  Both Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea get occasional snow, sometimes a lot, and the latter peak supports a ski club!

Hard to measure with the wind and some compaction. I'd say 13-14. Really meaty, blue snow in the piles stuff. Will go out soon. I didn't do every 6 hrs so may be conservative.

Nice....similar to here for totals...I had ~13.5 about an hour ago but you have more QPF in the pack. Snow starting to pick up again in these weenie bands congealing over central MA.

According to that the VT record would be broken by that Ludlow spotter who came in at 44"?

There’s a storm max record of 35” at Mauna Loa observatory in the article I linked! Theres an old snowboard video I have of someone gapping over the road up there after an unexpected storm.

I think Binghamton and the Okemo/Ludlow area are the ground zeros.

Lots of people on social media with legit 40” or more OTG... that’s not total, that’s on the ground!

This woman on Okemo Ski Patrol said they are 1600ft and have a legit 41” of Depth.  Says it’s almost chest deep on her in the driveway.  They were bare ground yesterday.

That is absolutely sick!

No clearing or anything and 40”.  Holy shit.

That's something one might expect at Mammoth or Rainier!

Both visibility (1/4 mile) and flake size are at their lowest in Augusta.  I don't think there's as much outside the office here as that hourly average in VT.

Agree! It also snows sometimes on Haleakala on Maui. In fact the record for snowfall was 6 inches on Haleakala from 1938 up until recently. In Dec 2016 Mauna Kea got approximately 2 feet of snow. Unfortunately no official measurement because roads were impassible getting to the summit.

This sucks doesn't it @HoarfrostHubb @subdude :(.  We may average a lot during a year, but it seems we only get that way due to marginal shoulder season events like last week. Never get the sexual deform bands (too far east and south) or the CF enhancement (too far NW) :(

I'm pretty sure @HoarfrostHubb was doing naked snow angels in like 2 feet of powder during Oct '11 while back east we were playing cards by candlelight. You guys definitely do get in on those ML bands sometimes.

Back to that Ski Patroller at Okemo... she’s posted some great stuff on FB this morning.

If her time stamps are correct (no reason not to believe it), they were getting 8” per hour rates.

Actually, they were getting 6” SNOW DEPTH increase in 45 minutes... at those snow depths, there has to be settling.  I wonder if this was measured on a cleared area if it was actually 8” in 45 min or even more?

I mean this is some of the highest documented rates I’ve seen.  But to have snow depth increase 6” in 45 minutes is a 8” per hour rate.

I wonder if they had rates of 10”/hour on a cleared surface?

Did you see your old digs at JP have 13 inches last report?

Yup... my profile pic is my back deck in Oct '11.   22" in the later storm after 3-4" a few days earlier.

We get hammered now and then...  close to a foot here today.  I need to go measure/snowblow in a little bit

Waitinf until the snow is done but took one pass around back and it worked well

3 inches in 13 minutes is almost 14 an hour. I bet you’re right they would’ve Had 10 if they measured the hour of peak intensity on a board
