Completely shut off when I went back out for a walk 30 minutes later. Was out for about an hour and it really didn’t do anything, perhaps a few flakes. At least it’ll be nice to have snow on the ground for Christmas, assuming this doesn’t melt.

jaysoner
Southern Bergen county- seems like after 1am it went back to all snow, every time I awoke during the night and popped my head up to look outside the streetlamp was illuminating a heavy wind-driven snow. Hard to tell how much more has fallen just by looking outside, but it doesn't seem like too much. Went to bed with 5" and however much sleet, Hoping for about 10" total but not holding my breath. kat5hurricane
That was interesting. I dug out my car around midnight thinking that most of the snow was done then woke up this morning to see another 3-4 inches accumulated and had to dig out my car again. The snow is a lot heavier than it was last night so it was like shovelling cement this time around and broke my shovel in the process. I got a really good workout at least. I would say we got around 8 inches in Whitestone, maybe more.

jm1220
Light snow here currently, good bit of blowing around. Looks like I had about 2” in this back end stuff so far, definite sleet/ice layer in there. Altogether I think I have 7” or so but hard to tell for sure with the blowing. Shades
I'm in Maspeth, Queens, northwest-central part of the county. I encountered 3 rounds of shovelings, 2 last night, one this morning. During those intervals, measured 3 inches around 7pm, another 2-3 inches around 9pm. We mixed thereafter for several hours, heavy sleet rates around midnight when I let the dog out, reminiscent to a hail storm; compacting much of the snow that wasn't already shovelled. I thought that would be it as far as significant accumulation. Recall reading the AFD from OKX mentioning maybe an additional 1-3 during the early morning hours for NYC-metro as dry-slot and warm tongue were contentious. Woke up at 6am, and stepped out to and additional 4-5 inches (very difficult to measure due to drifting), the base layer was sleet, since I had shovelled the night before preceding the change-over; atop that though, it was a heavy mass of dendrites. Total event thus far as this wraps(-around)... approx 9-11" in northwest central Queens; close to a foot in drifts of white cement.
