I don't know why on God's snowy earth they would put rain in the forecast. There is zero chance that it is going to rain anymore tonight. 1
Runman292
The snow has tapered to flurries in Oak Ridge. No accumulation on anything.

A wintry storm system will move across the Tennessee valley and southern Appalachians through early Tuesday morning. Periods of snow can be expected across southwest Virginia, all of east Tennessee, and southwest North Carolina. Across the Tennessee valley and lower elevations of southwest Virginia, snow accumulations of one-half inch or so is possible, mainly over grassy and elevated surfaces. As temperatures drop into the 20s tonight, freezing of the wet roadways is possible producing black ice and slushy snow may accumulate on bridges and overpasses. However, most roadways will remain wet due to relatively warm ground. When traveling through early Tuesday morning, be prepared for occasional reduced visibility due to the snow and localized areas of snow and icy covered roadways. Drive with caution and slow down. Give yourself extra time to reach your destination. 1234snow
Nothing at all here. Mostly light rain with maybe some flakes mixing in. Down to 35 now. Micro climates can suck. Get downsloped in every direction possible. Warm pocket always stays here the longest and the precip gets eaten away. Congrats to all on a nice start to the season.

Holston_River_Rambler
There's an interesting feature on radar and WV imagery that may give one more umph to everything tonight: radar: Water Vapor: WPC mesoscale analysis shows some 850 frontogenesis associated with it: I have no clue what that is, but it does seem to be heading our way. Maybe fortune favors the greedy tonight?

TellicoWx
Pretty impressed for town (upslope only works out maybe 5% of the time). Good start to the season...maybe, just maybe it will be a good winter. We had what seemed like great teleconnections the last couple years that went exactly opposite. May as well try the opposite lol.
BhamParker
Y’all the yellow returns just keep coming snd the wind is howling! You can’t even see the lights of downtown gatlinburg. I know the weather channel app is crap, but they’ve even upped it to 5-8 inches tonight. If these heavy returns continue then I think those amounts may be possible 9

We are set to check out tomorrow and have to be out by 11. I know in the past they've typically plowed/salted/taken good care of the roads around these cabins, but I am definitely a little concerned about it. Hopefully all will be okay in the morning. I have a tacoma truck, but do not own chains.
TellicoWx
Picked up .75" on the snow board in town..if you count what melted before sunset..looks like the RGEM did the best IMBY...think it is one of Holstons favorite winter models
Holston_River_Rambler
Almost up to 2.5 now and pouring. I do like the RGEM. It seems like it sees some features better than the NAMs at range. But have to credit Carver's for teaching me to watch it.
