cleetussnow
Well we have the New England crew to thank for this. They get convection and rn+ on Christmas. Their weenies need a break. Well so do I at my house but I got snow OTG until at least Christmas eve.

cleetussnow
I see 60 hrs of streamers or synoptic, probably enhanced, off Lake Ontario. That could add up. That retrograde has to work out.

wolfie09
Probably like 3-4 feet verbatim lol But if it goes a little west every thing changes, probably best to stick with Sunday for now lol
rochesterdave
This would be one hell of a Christmas Eve! Lol. It’ll change 24 times.

rochesterdave
Canadian goes over us. Followed by big LES in traditional belts with blizzard like conditions there.
rochesterdave
ICON is a good demonstration of what usually happens wit a storm that goes west of us= rain followed by wind and cold. Very little snow unless you are in the hills South of BUF or on the TUG.

It will begin that way but there will be plenty of S/W rounding the PV over Hudson Bay to spray the LES around...I think in this scenario everyone gets a piece of the action

I wouldn’t hold my breath on the Genny Valley seeing more than a dusting in that scenario. Downsloping, wind trajectory, wind speed, subsidence time etc. We don’t do well with these. If it does the GFS- Rochester would be the sweet spot. Canadian or Icon- I’d want to be in the traditional LES zones (including North Buffalo). Lots of time! It’s the most incredible synoptic storm I’ve EVER seen (on a local level). So close to all of us! "Is this Heaven?" "It's Binghamton."

wolfie09
That's a pretty strong HP off the east coast that obviously can slow the progression of the CF..

wolfie09
Well for me since I'm selfish would like it to stay inland, just not to inland Even with a rain track we can see some decent snow on the backside..

If we can get that timing right with the wave running up the arctic front, that would be amazing. The fact all the models have a strong front barreling through around the 24-25th is a good thing. Somethin' gonna' happen. Let's see what the 12z Euro has...

DeltaT13
I think we get the christmas eve cold front, that seems fairly locked in. But chasing a wave that develops along the front 7 days out is a long shot. Very tricky evolution for that to work out. 1
